Registrars Requirement to Keep Valid Whois

Im running into an issue with DotRegistrar / MyDomain / Dotster

I recently acquired a domain name that was with DotRegistrar. We did the push from the DotRegistrar account to another DotRegistrar account. The following day the domain name was then migrated to a MyDomain account.

At this point - despite the issue - they are not displaying the new whois. They recognize something is wrong, but cant seem to resolve it for 24 hours.

The frustrating part is that we will not release escrow until the domain whois reflects the new registrant owner. Despite each phone call saying "Oh well get this fixed" its not getting done. Now their asking me to checkin next week to get an update. Im sorry, but to me this seems rediculous.

Any ideas what legal requirement the registrar has, to make sure the whois is updated? I mean, what if a transfer is initiated over the weekend and sent to the old owner?..... I could see a few things being possible despite being unlikely. Although I have no intention of making some legal claim, the issue here is simple - does Dotster have the responsibility to make sure the whois information is correct? What requirements does ICANN impose?

Every registrar has that responsibility per their RAA agreements. It's all stated
there:

One thing that isn't there, though, is requiring registrars to fix the issue that
you described in 24 hours or less. Then again, it's not realistic to impose such
a deadline.

We've been there, done that, Justin. Next best thing is to tell them to maybe
keep you abreast of the issue.

There are just certain things that won't necessarily be resolved on the spot,
as much as we want them to.

Ask your sales rep to contact the registrar to confirm it's the correct account. Give them as much information as you can and tell them the issues.

Well, Ive had this documented with as far as up as a Supervisor. I realize resolving an issue within 24 hours isn't always realistic. However, at this point, at best... the issue will be resolved on Monday. Thats 4 days (IF, it gets resolved Mon)

Currently, funds are being held in escrow on this domain, and will not be released until the whois information adjusts accordingly. The whole thing is quite frustrating.

Yes. Issue was resolved on Sunday. Annoying - but it was handled within a reasonable amount of time.

Life is annoying :notme:

I could see your face squint when you typed "reasonable" above, but at least it wasn't a full 4 days ;)
