I have a domain name at Claranet and I want to transfer it to OnlineNIC. Claranet sent me the auth code, which the OnlineNIC used to try to transfer the domain name over. But it just doesn't work, the registration fails. I asked Claranet to double-check the auth code, and they confirmed it's the right code. We tried again, it won't go. What can I do? :td:

Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure the domain isn't LOCKED so you can't transfer it away from Claranet?

Thanks, yes, in their original mail they said the domain had been unlocked. Any other idea?

If that's the case, it could be one of a million things that's amiss. If Claranet affirms it's not on their end, maybe it'd be worth hounding OnlineNIC about it. (Otherwise it'd really be frustrating having both sides blaming the other)

I found out. Claranet outsources Network Solutions for their names. And Network Solutions won't let you transfer domains before 60 days after the registration date. I have to wait 2 months. Thanks again!

The 60-day rule is imposed on all registrars. :)
