Home, sweet domain home. Ain't that what a good registrar should be?
Like I said in the Moniker error thread, I'm getting tired of now having to use the Domaindiscount24 (DD24) inherited control panel for my Moniker based portfolio. Really longing back for the days when Monte Cahn himself did PR work here on NP and you could get good pricing behind the scenes. Plus there was a decent website.
I haven't had technical issues so far with the new Key-Systems owned Moniker (heck, now literally a moniker for their business), but the control panel is just so stereotypical German software engineering. Yeah, it works, but it's ugly and not working in a smooth way. Oh, and of course resources are conserved by the scroogelike job queing... The pricing is still okay, but it's just not comfortable and quick for doing changes. I have to give them a thumbs down for not supporting DNSSEC. Also the who renewal system is just bogus, just like it has always been with anything Key-Systems. Some very German logic or something. (Sidenote: nothing against Germans, but their coding habits just often produce clunky interfaces.)
I still have a ResellOne reseller account, but it's pretty much useless. I've also used Dynadot, GoDaddy (no, don't even try to get me there anymore), 007Names, DD24, Gandi, GKG and Name.com. I guess the most lethal one must have been GKG as you can request an account recovery by mail and your details don't have to match the WHOIS. Ol' fashioned offline scamming. Too bad, because they're one of the few ICANN accredited ones that accept DNSSEC into the registry. And no, I haven't lost domains with them, but the paperwork is quite risky.
Anyone have an idea what I should try next? I haven't seen what Enom has directly for their resellers as I don't fancy going the reseller route, unless needed, because I don't currently sell registrations. The problem with Name.com is that you can easily create different WHOIS contact profiles/templates like with Dynadot and DD24/Moniker. Dynadot at least works as it should, but I'm not so keen about the current looks of things. The old one was better, although more simple. Gandi is also picky with WHOIS, but they do have DNSSEC.
So as said, DNSSEC would be excellent, but the alternatives are just too few. At least I need WHOIS and NS profiles/templates, enough TLDs, proper customer service and account security, average pricing (not necessarily cheap) and a nice control panel. Open to all recommendations!
What's hot nowadays? Haven't been registrar shopping for years, which is why I ask.
