Does anyone know is registerfly is an enom reseller for sure?

And if so, why is their drop svc (expirefish) so bad when it seems like the enom drop is one of the best?

If so, they snuck that one by me :red: I'm usually pretty good at picking out re-sellers.

I think registerfly was one of the first and most successful enom resellers, and it's really been no secret in the industry. They do some stuff outside that reseller relationship, such as new.net and some other things. There are a couple other large enom resellers as well.

I think they are growing fast enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they became a full icann authorized registrar, but it would surprise me if it were tucows. If it is, I hope they keep their own interface, as I've never liked the tucows control panels that are pretty much tied to an individual domain name.

RegisterFly's ExpireFish service has been around a lot longer than eNom's Club Drop. Really they are seperate entities. ExpireFish from what I gather just checks the availability of a name periodically and registers it if available while Club Drop makes a more agressive effort to catch a name at drop name.

To clarify a comment made by bizbj above, NameCheap and RegisterFly are different companies entirely, though both are resellers of eNom.

From the Expire Fish web site:
"ExpirefishNET provides you with a powerful mechanism to obtain a domain that is soon to expire, or that has already expired but is locked in "registrar hold". Working with our sister site Registerfly.com we will register it on your behalf the moment the domain becomes available."

I've not had a whole lot of luck wit hthe "Powerful Mechanism".

I heard through the grapevine(from a reliable source) that they will be announcing icann accredition status any week. They are the largest enom reseller by far so it should be interesting to see what being icann accredited does for them.

at one time, when expirefish and snapnames were the only two around, I seem to remember that expirefish advertised that it tried the domain on your list every 10 minutes. Of course snap tried the names every many times per minute and would beat them. However, it was a good tool to get a name that was valuable, but just not enough to spend $60 for at snap. Now that many more are in the game, I guess it could be used to get names as long as they weren't good enough or popular for the prices of the current drop catchers.

I think I saw a promo that they had upgraded from the 10 minute thing, but they are near the bottom of the list on success I think.

I don't use them any more, but believe it or not I captured the following names from expirefish in 2002. I don't think they would have a chance these days at names like these.
