I often see people complaining about how long it takes to register a new domain name with godaddy, because they have to sort through all of the offers that they give you, prior to check out.

Heres a quick little guide I wrote to help you skip the useless offers B-)

You can read the full, illustrated guide (with coupon codes!) by clicking here.

1. Login To Your GoDaddy Account!
-This will save you some time at the end of checking out

2. Find Your Million Dollar Name ;)

3. Stop! You’ve Found A Great Name!
-By all means, if you want to register the other extensions of your new name, go for it. But if not, click "Continue To Checkout"

4. Don’t Let GoDaddy’s Newest Trick Get You!
-They recently changed the default registration period to 5 years, instead of 2. So be sure to fix that.

5. Set Your NameServers! (optional)
-If you know what your going to do with your new domain name (such as park/ develop), go ahead and set your NameServers. This will save you alot of time in the future.

6. Super Saver!
-On step 4 of the checkout process, select "No thanks, I'm ready to checkout". This will save you from going through all of their offers!

Now all that is left, is paying for your domain name, and BAM! You've just registered a domain name with GoDaddy in under 5 minutes! :D

Or you can use Moniker/Name/Pairnic/Dynadot/Namecheap/Internet.bs/Etc. and check out in less than one minute....

It take me 2 minutes to do this :) But I don't waste time to change nameservers, it is very easy to change them later :)

I agree, the nameservers are easy to change, but the ajax on godaddy takes ages to load on my computer, so I added that step just in case anyone wanted to try it :]

I have found their 5 year default to be quite annoying but being the penny pincher I am I always look at the total valued owed just before I commit to purchase. This may help other newcomers however better navigate through the trenches that is their checkout system.

GoDaddy has too much going on to try to get you to sign up for other crap they offer. I'm sure it must be quite annoying & frustrating to someone who's new to registering a domain. Moniker is fairly easy to register but they have a horrible navigation system, it's rather daunting to change your name servers, not to mention they don't give you free forwarding. Dynadot is by far the best and easiest registrar I know of. I recommend it to everyone.
