I guess I was out of the loop on this one. is this true, we can register .nv domains? Here is a email I just received,

Dear Nevada Registrant,

Soon, the world will be aware of .nv.com domain names and will be registering the most generic and most valuable domains starting on September 19th, 2007. This email is to inform you that your opportunity to register an nv.com domain name is here -- before the world is fully awakened by this opportunity.

There are no specific restrictions on who can register a .nv.com, but it is being presented to companies, individuals and organizations that do business in Nevada FIRST before making a public offering to the world on September 19th, 2007. This is why you received this notice.

Register your NV.com domain Now before your Competition does

Who is a .nv.com domain suited for?

New Businesses - Businesses coming online that want to buy a descriptive domain (i.e. Builders.NV.com, Cleaners.NV.com, WebDevelopment.NV.com). When you market your business with a generic nv.com domain, it provides you instant credibility in that industry, knowing that you were one of the first registrants to register a good nv.com domain name.

Corporate Entities - Protection of their digital rights and brands by restricting registration of others to their federal Trademarks, service marks, and overall general intellectual property protection.

Existing Businesses - Long domain names that do not end in dot comร‚ย are often always mistyped and hard to remember. When you use an NV.com domain, people will have a higher association with your online presence by remembering yourdomain.NV.com. Shorten your current domain name -- for example:

Go From: BobsPlumbingServiceNevada.net To: BobsPlumbing.NV.com or Plumbing.NV.com or even Bobs.NV.com.

Small-Business Owners (SOHO) - Businesses that didn't get the chance to buy domains containing their business name or want the ability to give an appearance of a larger corporation would ideally register a targeted .nv.com domain name.

Real Estate Agents - Nothing says Nevada, like an .nv.com domain name. Youre already buying and selling homes in Nevada, so why not tell people that you do? Obtain the ideal domain name that says it all. (i.e. BobSmith.NV.com or BobSells.NV.com or ISell.NV.com or SmithHomes.NV.com, etc.)

The options are endless and this is the time to make your choice now before September 19th, 2007.

Why get a .nv.com domain?

To protect your interests! Your company now has a second chance to buy a good dot com domain name for your business, but it's also highly advisable to register your existing domain and variations of it in the nv.com Registry to better help promote your products and services. An nv.com domain gives you the Nevada presence so sought after, telling people that you do business here.

Purchasing a .nv.com domain name can give your business an edge with branding, web-optimization and trademarks for future use. Not to mention, the credibility that it offers by promoting your nv.com domain.

With a nv.com domain name, you will now be able to:

* Provide a Targeted presence to your customers
* Be at the forefront of capturing a generic domain name
* Reach billions of users worldwide, not just Nevada.
* Use a targeted domain that says you do business in Nevada.

Dont miss out on this opportunity today by registering your domain before the general public does on September 19th, 2007!

It doesn't say that there will be an .NV domain. There will be .NV.COM domains which is not a real extention. It is someone who bought NV.COM and decided to sell its subdomains. Pretty much in the same way that CentralNIC owns us.com and uk.com and eu.com and sells subdomains.uk.com etc. I would not be surprised even if NV.COM was another CentralNIC one, they already have .QC.COM for Quebec.

There is no such thing as an .NV extention, only subdomains of .NV.COM

Probably you can also still get .NV.US in the same way that every US state has its own extention under the .US suffix.

Another bs-tld. All the top keywords are reserved by the company itself. What a joke.

Thks,

I did not catch that. Pretty smart I guess, although if I understand what you are saying they register the names and then try to re-sell to us?, lol. I did not understand why anyone would want a name in .nv.com Now if anyone registers one I will not understand that either.

Now I see how really lame it is.

The company won't keep the top names for themselves or they would miss out on a lot of profit. They will probably resell the top names after reserving them first. Clever idea.

Which company owns NV.COM and hosts the subdomain salespoint?

Changed the thread title as no .nv extension exists.
