I am in the process of re-doing my entire website. That includes changing the filenames in some cases. I need to tell the search engines where the pages went, should i use 301 redirects? If so, how would it look?

Would i have to keep a bunch of blank files of all the old file names on the server and put the redirects in them pointing to the new filename?

Thanks

if both the old version and the new version where using dynamic data, you might to look at using mod_rewrite - it's a great way to change the urls of your site on as a whole in a very short time.
