Redesign Follow Up - Your comments please

Hi,

this is as follow up to http://www.namepros.com/web-design-reviews/309157-citypics-redesign-review.html

Some of the responses made me reconsider the redesign and so I wanted to come up with something more different from the current design and posted a screenshot at http://www.citypics.org/citypics.jpg

It is far from complete but I really would like to hear other opinions, so please let me know what you think about this new design, respectively also about the previous redesign compared to the current design.

I like your logo, and all I think needs to be done is the background made into mabye some sort of gradient and with a darker red shade mabye. Also you may consider making the standard buttons a graphic button that fits your design. GOOD LUCK!

Pink again, eh? My suggestion to the pink: if you're going with a lighter color, such as this pink, you might want to consider using a bit darker of a backdrop. It would greatly assist in letting your main frame stand out and accentuate your pictures. Essentially, once the user clicks on a picture and gets the large version of it, your backdrop is dark blue - i'd aim for consistency from the starting page onwards. Your logo is pretty neat, simple and easy to look at, i believe that it deserves a bit bigger of a spot and a more centered location on the top bar.

Would you have a particular color suggestion for a darker backdrop? Neither grey nor dark blue seem to match well with pastel orange, sorry pink .

Stay away from the pink, it is not that conducive to what you are trying to accomplish with this site, now if it was for the awareness of breast cancer, it would be good, but not for this site - IMPO

Well, I noticed it can seem slightly pink on certain screens, but generally pink would be rather like http://www.citypics.org/index_new.php?color=FF80FF (the first redesign version).

Would you have other color suggestions? There is also a poll in the original thread.
