Hey,

Just submitting a quick suggestion:

Would it be possible for us to have a special red nose day 2007 ribbon for a limited time (for the length of the event obviously :P)

I usually (or we as a family) donate via the advertised way, but this would be a good way for people from other countries (outside UK) and a way to encourage those who don't usually do so, to donate :)

Any thoughts?

RND: http://www.rednoseday.com/

p.s. Yes i will be posting a shot of me wearing my bid red nose :hehe:

Being a Brit that donates every year I second this. RND is a great fundraiser for charity, and it should be acknowledged on the No. 1 domaining forum on the internet.

I would like to third this, I would definitely buy the ribbon. The only UK charity available at the moment is the RSPCA and on the basis that the 'Great' British public give 4 times as much to animal charities each year as they do to children's charities, which I find disgraceful, I refuse to offer animal charities any support. I will try and find the source for that statistic, but I remember it from the news a while back. The fact that awful dancing dog won that new talent show last week speaks volumes, how come I live in a country that values the life of a dog at 4 times the life of a child?

i fourth the RND ribbon (im a brit too), though it might be better to have a shiny red nose instead of a ribbon, to avoid confusion with current red ribbon.

bigturnip- thats news to me, on a side note, what about an NSPC ribbon?

I have made that suggestion before, was overlooked :(

Certainly like the sound of that red nose ribbon :), good way to get more people involved with donating imo.

Any staff got any feedback on this?

OK, I got it slightly wrong. I found an article I had read about charities and what it actually said was that young people give 4 times as much to animal charities as they do to children's charities and goes on to say that this could cause major problems for children's charities in the future. The article was actually in my free local parish magazine. The source they have cited is www.caritasdata.co.uk, but it seems you have to pay a few hundred pounds to view most of their reports.

Fortunately though the older and wealthier members of the public do seem to have their heads screwed on and as a nation we do seem to give more to children's charities than animal charities. I found this: http://www.caf.org.uk/Default.aspx?page=7683 which is an interesting insight into where our priorities lie.

If you add religious causes and religious missionary causes then it is by far the biggest receiver of donations, it is also a little sad to see that environmentalism and the arts both rank higher than children's charities. Disability charities barely make the top 10.

I do apologise in advance as this is not really the place to be discussing this, I was just investigating a point I made a couple of posts up and thought the information would interest a few people.

Hopefully we can see a non-animal UK charity represented by namepros soon.

Hmm, that's children, they absolutely love animals.

RND ribbon (nose?) would be a great idea! :)

I think its a great idea. I had a sister die from SIDS when she was 6 weeks old and it would be great to help out the cause. :)

This has my support. If someone from the UK wants to take the lead on organizing a fundraiser here at NamePros, please say so.
