The Domain
The domain-name recipes.name (GD) alone was bought for low xxx. Created on: 30-Jan-04 Expires on: 30-Jan-07. The Keyword Recipes is consistently at the top searched keywords. It got 76,178.0/day searches (for recipe) by ovt and 19,779.0/day searches (for recipes) by Wordtracker. With the right SEO a strong keyword can go very high no matter what the ext is. The domain has google PR3.

The Site
Recipes website with more than 21,000 recipes. 240MB of html pages. There are ~9,900 indexed pages.
There are some broken recipes links from the index pages. You can deal with it with either run some script that will clean the broken links, or do what i do - instead of 404 error page it shows a "this recipe will be updated soon" page with a link to the previous page. This way you won't lose the surfer. As mentioned tho there's some broken recipes links there are still more than 21,000 recipes !! that's a lot anyway
The site has low traffic & revenue since it has never been advertised.

Will all the backlinks remain?

i've never seen a .name domain rank in any search terms :/

I didn't do much to get this ranking, but sure as far as the backlinks that i set in a few of my other sites i can keep them.

I tried looking at 10 random recipes and 6 said recipe not found. There are many jsut on this page:

I am assuming that the recipes that are not found are part of the 21,000 recipes?

Actually 8 of the 11 on the above link can not be found

You are assuming wrong scali. There's 21K+ recipes WITHOUT the ones that not working. You just picked an index with a lot of recipes that are in the A* folder - Those are the missing ones (the folder/files that starts with A)...

and that looks like the c list not the a list

Its not just one section like this its many. Why would all these items be there if they did not have an actual recipe attached to it?

It's the A list. Look at the links of the recipes you are clicking it.
Of Course it shouldn't be like that (broken links) and it should be clean. That's why i was completely clear and explained about this problem - not to hide anything from a potential buyer.
Anyhow the recipes .HTML's contains 21,580 html files (the ones that are actually there. there's no pages for the missing ones - it's the 404 error page).
