Hi first a little advice, I my self got when I started with domaining:

Generel
1. Make goals to where you see yourself in this domainbuisness in 1 year, 3 years, 5 years and 10 years. BE REALISTIC.

2. Split your domain investing in parts; for short time investment and long time investment.

3. If you dont plan to park the domains, make a website for each of your domains.

4. Make a plan for each of your domains. Park, minisite or unique site, decide before you buy the domain.

5. If you want to make a unique site, then develope a concept for the domain.

6. Market your domains through joining forums and smoothly drop in your links to your domains. This is the free mode style

7. As soon as you have bought each domain, submit your domain to Google, Yahoo and DMOZ, and all other search engines you can find.

Domains:
1. stick to .com, until you have experience.
2. No Numbers in domainname.
3. No Hyphens in domainname. Unless it is a very good domain.
4. MAYBE THE MOST IMPORTANT ADVISE, STAY AWAY FROM TRADEMARK DOMAINS!
5. Be sure that the domain, is REALLY pronounceable
6. If the .net and .org also are free, then take them too.

Then to your appraise.

Actually you have done very well, better then me when I started, so just keep on going. :)

I agree that you should stick with dot coms or dot nets...but I am less convinced with the suggestion that you avoid number or hyphens.

I say that because I have sold a few domains containing numbers...and I just recently sold a dot org with a hyphen for $xxxx, a dot com with a hyphen for $xxxx and a dot three word com containing two hyphens (between each word for a very high $xxx.

I still have number containing domains including nll.com and lln.net and see their value going up each day.

The best thing to do is research, research and do more research.

I agree on the general values placed on your names by testingyou

As and addon I can mention that there was a auction which ended yesterday with a three lenght .com which contained two numbers and a hyphen inbtween :)

0-3.com
And it ended at, if I dont remember wrong: $800

So yes 1cruiser may be right, there are good domains with numbers and hyphens, so just use your common sense.

best regards.

Thank you for the advice, I am excited about learning the business. Its hard because buying domains becomes sort of addicting and you start making bad choices.... But does anyone have any more appraisals on any of my domains?

we have all made bad choices in regging names, and I have made some huge mistakes by letting some names go years ago that I did not have the patience or foresight to hold on to....and now they are worth lots. We all know about 20/20 hindsight.

Take your time, and enjoy the biz
