I'm hoping posting this question here might get me some advise.

I would like to get hold (backorder I guess) of a .cc domain but I don't under stand the WHOIS which says...

Record created on Jan 18 2000.

Record expires on Jan 18 2004.

If it expired back on Jan '04 why is it not available?? If it's not available why are the dates so old... over a year!? Because I'm not understanding these dates, I don't know how I should proceed! :'(

And finally... where's a reliable place to backorder a .cc??? Some of your better backorder sites don't do .cc Thoughts??

Many thanks in advance!

Ok, I also have reserved names and wanted them like that. I was told that some names don't get released back to public. They automatically are taken and then auctioned by certain registrars. I'm not that far into it but I don't think those services of back ordering do you any good. I've done it once and my name never made the delete.

That's only what I've heard. Maybe someone here could offers some info on where to find these names and how to get hands on them in an auction.

"Expired" means it's in pending delete status, which can be retained for anywhere from one month to infinity. Be patient.

Actually, "Pending Delete" is the last process in the normal "Drop Cycle" ... all of which begins after the domain name officially "expires", but before it is "dropped" (yet so often "grabbed" immediately), IMHO.
"Pending Delete" status plus SIX days and the domain name "drops"! :talk:
Enjoy.

re-purposed ccTLD's and most other ccTLD domains don't have to obide by the same ICANN rules as the gTLD's. therefore, dropping is probably done whenever the contracting party manging the registry wants to. the .cc domain is managed by enic.cc which is a Verisign company. I would guess

I have not seen any backorder/auction service handling .cc, .ws, .tv, or any other similar names. Verisign may either put them on greatdomains or just reselll them again without backorders available.

Maybe there's a legal situation with the domain. In which case, it could be expired but in limbo until the case is resolved.

Try emailing the registrar. It can't hurt to try.

Thanks guys for all these great responses!

Okay, this is a little scary... I just checked the WHOIS for the registrar and at GoDaddy it now says "Whois information is currently unavailable." Blast! Does this means someone's probably getting on it or that it's gonna drop??

Thanks in advance!
