I'd go with the latter. Most professional sellers don't recommend selling on ebay. I've been succesfull on ebay when the domain did not sell on forums because it was not very good. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of .cc so that might also be the reason.

Sadly there's just one bid so far and less than a day to go... I wonder if this reflects the true value/interest in the .CC's or if it's an omen that you don't put a "good" domain on ebay?

a wakeup call for all the .cc registrants I think, though I would have expected lower bidding than that actually.

A good example of fraudulent sales pitches. There are more than 240 cctlds out there, .cc being just one of them. And the .CC namespace takes not only 2 characters but 1, and if it expires, it will still be 2, unlike .ORG. Caveat emptor.

it is because there are many of these LN or NL available

Is it really possible to register 1 letter/number .cc, .bz? I'm still wondering about the guy selling 1.cc...

To get back on track, I'm wondering if these auctions reflect the true market value of these .cc's or is eBay just a bad place to list them?

the main types of people interested in these extensions are domainers and very small webmasters, the sales aren't likely to be high and I've only seen a couple of sales over 3 figures in this ext - not many considering its a very old extension.

My .02, ther are still 2 char .cc's available, some in really good combos if you ask me. The fact that the .cc is going for $50 ($30 over reg fee) when others are still available it a good sign if you ask me.
Couple it with the fact that it's eBay, and I'm actually a "glass 1/2 full" guy today.

I think you have the answer Dave, Ebay is just a bad place to list domains for sale. Probably doesn't matter if it's a .cc, or a .com.

Has there been any good .com, or .net, or .org domain sales on Ebay? I don't know, I am not saying there hasn't been. I am just saying seems to me everybody goes to Ebay to find the cheapest deal, or a steal. So, even if it's a .com, they are not going to give you top dollar, they want it for $50 too!!

In my own "vision of Ebay" opinion.

Frank.

Search eBay for the Domain " Pimpin.com " I believe if the name has value people will bid. .cc just aint popular...

I agree with what snoop has said in this thread.

I think it's a bit of both, but mainly people looking for a bargain AND ebay isn't generally the best for domains...

Although I do list a couple things on eBay I do not actually like the clientelle of eBay. Whoever said it above is right...everyone there is cheap and just wants a bargain.

eBay sellers also cheapen everything too. Those people who don't put a reserve or starting bid and sell things of real value for only $1. It is a place for people to ditch things they don't want despite its true value.

Everytime I have listed I get private messages from people saying, "how low will you really go?" - below my starting bid. I want to reply "hey, what part of my starting bid don't you understand?" ... but I ignore them instead.

At least eBay gets the word out about what I am selling. Sometimes those after auction offers can be good enough, since they know I certainly won't except a 1 dollar since I set a high starting bid.

It the same thing as going to a flea market!!! People are not there to buy something they want or like. They are there to buy something they want or like for next to nothing!! They are betting that you don't know the item's real value. After they buy it, and walk away, they will be laughing with joy because they just made a fantastic steal of a deal!!!

Merry Christmas to all *<|

I've made some awesome money on ebay in the past.. many times vastly exceeding the price I thought I'd get BUT this was with collectibles.. I've never had consistently good luck with domains or websites on ebay.

Hey, now there's a marketing idea.. "domainer" trading cards! THEN maybe we'd have something to sell!
