Honestly, I would not trust any automated stats for an expiring or otherwise available domain name at this time. After starting to host a lot of normal non-expiring "for sale" domains myself instead of using parking with "domain for sale" links, I began to periodically review raw access logs. OMG. Well, I blocked obvious things like requests to wp-login (bots that are looking for outdated wordpress installations), blocked all IP ranges of French OVH hosting (main home for bots), blocked some other things - but there are still tons of bots who are changing IPs and everything very frequenty, and no automated system can block them all. So they are all counted. I'd say that only a human can perform better calculations with raw logs in hand, but even in this case some bot traffic will not be classified as such - the bots are trying to hide themseleves, use fake browser strings, fake referrals and so on.
