In nowadays, a Vanity Number such as 1800 WIDGET is a 90’s product that is practically phasing out and being replaced by features such as Click-to-Call from your smartphone (4 out 5 smartphone users now use Click-to-Call).
A Vanity Number is also of no use when using the voice dial feature. For example, a Vanity Number cannot be recognised when trying to voice dial using voice assistants such as Siri, Cortana, Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.
However, if we were to use a matching Vanity Number Domain such as “1800widget.com", then the Vanity Number Domain would appear at the top of the search results, Click-to-Call would be enabled and the Vanity Number Domain may be used for redirection to the customer’s main website.
As far as valuation is concerned, would be it be too ambitious to say that the Vanity Number Domain is of equal or of higher value than a standalone Vanity Number? If 1800 WIDGET is worth let’s say $25,000, how would we evaluate the Vanity Number Domain against the current market value of a Vanity Number?
