RackPlanet.net is down!

I've been using rackplanet.net for webhosting for the last year or so and they have been great for the most part. Now I'm in an interesting predicament. I can't contact them to let them know their site is down. Rackplanet.net is down, my site which is hosted by them is down, and their dns server appears to be down. The whois records show rackplanet email addresses and the phone number is a voicemail number.

Hmm... I'm not in bad shape to be down for a day considering how dirt cheap the service is, but it can't be good for them.

It's 12:29pm now and it's been down since early this morning.

If the service is really that 'dirt cheap' then there isn't really any explanations as to why everything has suddenly 'haulted' with the host...

Hate to be soo blunt... :o

It's been down for a complete day now, so I changed the dns on my domain and changed a bunch of forwarded domains and email addresses to somewhere else. That's all she wrote...

bill, have you confirmed this with a 3rd-party monitoring service, for example? I've noticed from where I'm at that sometimes, it's my ISP that goes on the fritz, and I'm unable to connect to my own sites, and just prior to sending email to support in a huff, check Alertra and find that it's up and running after all, just that my #@$%$^%&* ISP goes on a PMS mood. Otherwise, if they can't be reached at a time of crisis, this can just be a precursor to future horrors you can expect to have.

Thats all who wrote, the host?

Thats not a very good reply is it... Also, curious as to how she can change the email addresses, especially if the domains are down on the server...

Doesn't look like much of an effort was put into that response. How'd you get in contact with them?

Darren, I wrote "It's been down for a complete day now..."

"That's all she wrote" is a joke taken from a TV show. In America, there used to be this show on TV called "Murder she wrote."

Late last night I saw a "Website coming soon" page on www.rackplanet.net which was an improvement. Then, today my site was working for a while. Now both are offline again. :(

I only paid a little over $20 for a year of php/mysql webhosting and I can't complain. I've already used $20 of their energy and anything else I get out of that service is gravy. Their email servers were redundant and never gave me problems for months. Too bad this had to happen.

Both of their nameservers are gone too:
ns1.rackplanet.net. [207.44.186.96]
ns2.rackplanet.net. [207.44.186.121]

They are using EV1 (everyone's internet)
207.44.186.96
IP Location: Everyones Internet Inc
Web server hosts 237 websites

So there are around 200 other sites completely gone now too.

They either hosed the dns, the server itself, or EV1 pulled the plug for non-payment.
