I am not sure about a price, but I like this name especially as a .ORG.

Can be read as "an addiction to quitting".

I do understand what you are getting at though. It does fit the extension as mentioned above.

Being a .org you would need to develop or find an end-user IMO. Do you have someone interested?

Mid to high $xx, otherwise.

Thanks dear members for your views as i needed an appraisal for this domain urgently.
Scott i currently have no end user for this domain but would surely give a decent effort to find one before trying to sell it to a reseller.thanks once again.
+ Reps added where it was allowed.

Uh addiction is a disease. One does not 'quit' a disease. That would be like telling someone to quit cancer!

14,200 google results for "quit addiction".
As far as i know Addiction causes certain diseases and there is a lot of controversy whether addiction is a disease itself.
And by the way theres a lot of difference between addiction and cancer, i hope you understand that before making such comparisons.

I am going to debate this point. You can't choose not to have a disease.

I understand the argument, but it is not based in scientific fact. Is every specific addiction a disease? Let's say Alcoholism and Gambling are diseases. What about more obscure addictions, like collecting baseball cards. Is that a disease also?

If you have a disease like Cancer, or Aids you can't choose not to have it. If you are an Alcoholic you can control the cure, just not drinking. To me this a disservice to people with real diseases.

If addiction is anything it is a weakness IMO.

Actually addiction has for decades been recognized as a disease by the AMA. Just as much as cancer or any other disease. Its not a disease one can catch, and it is not curable. Either you have the disease (and had it since birth) or you don't. You don't 'become' an alcohol because you drink too much. The drinking is a symptom of the disease not a cause. Quitting drinking does NOT cure alcoholism and quitting using drugs does not cure addiction. You should educate yourself before making rash judgments on folks. You lack of knowledge about the disease is not too uncommon though, but you really should educate yourself, as no one 'chooses' to have the disease of addiction just as much as non one chooses asthma, dyslexia, mental retardation, or a heart attack.

Good name and its TLD is probably more appropriate than dot-com, which is rare. Not sure of value but it's likely worth a large amount in tax relief if donated to a non-profit org.

This thread is straying off-topic. :(

There is no controversy what-so-ever. Educate yourself. Addiction has been recognized by the AMA as a disease for decades. No medical doctor in the USA or any non-3rd world country will tell you that. There is no more difference between addiction and cancer than there is between alzhimer's and parkinson's. They are all diseases and no one chooses to have any of them. You need to be aware of what you are talking about before chastising those who do know!

Sorry man, but virtually anyone is going to take offense when you compare addiction to Cancer.

Listing "Addiction" is a disease is a just a cop out IMO. It is easy to just blame a disease for your actions instead of taking accountability for the choices you make.

Human beings have free will. There is no way you can blame some disease called "Addiction" for your actions.

What is the difference between someone who has a disease called "Addiction" and someone who just drinks a lot. Does every heavy drinker have that disease? If not what is the difference?

At best Addiction is a mental illness or disorder.

If you think the debate is settled, I think you might be the one who needs to educate yourself.

There is no controversy whatsoever? How about you Google it and look at some of the debates. This has been a highly debated issue.

You can define Cancer, you can define Aids. You can't define what the disease called Addiction is. What is the test?

Is someone born with Addiction? If they are and choose not to ever act on it do they still have the "disease". Does every person who is addicted to something have the "disease".

There is a great South Park episode parodying Alcoholism being called a disease.

Regardless, this domain does make sense to the vast majority of people.

As Brad has said just google it and see for yourself if it is a controversy or not.

As I stated before, using any particular substance does not CAUSE addition. The use is a symptom of the disease. Whether you choose to ignore medical knowledge is your choice. It is medically accepted that cigarette smoking is an extreme cause of lung cancer. Those are the folks that CAUSED their disease!

Addiction goes well beyond use of anything. When and addict stops using he is not 'cured'. There is no cure.

Humans do have free will. They don't have any say in what diseases they are born with though. The only debate is by those uninformed and those who choose to remain ignorant of facts.

The whole point of the thread is what the value of the domain name is. The point I made (and made very well to folks knowledgeable of the disease) is that the name makes no sense. Hell it could sell for damn near anything, but it still stands that saying Quit Addiction, is the same as saying Quit HIV, Quit Cancer, or Quit Asthma. Makes no sense in any use.

I thought there was a debate on the issue, judging by the numerous threads on forums and articles written in medical publications on the topic. But it turns out in the end the argument was ended officially when "BatRastard", a Namepros member, said it was.

I guess while a true "Expert" like yourself would not understand, other domainers had the same idea.

As someone who actually works in detoxing people with addictions to drugs and alcohol, I can tell you that these people don't "choose" to have the condition. And if you don't think some people are predisposed to addictions, then you've never sat in with me on an interview and uncovered the family histories of addiction these folks have...whether it's nature or nurture, I don't think it really matters.

As for the domain name, there are several newer drugs out there focused on decreasing cravings for different substances, but I'm thinking that the name might be a bit too vague for any one of them. Unless of course you had an information portal which would be a great advertising venue for all of them if it were developed.
