I purchased a domain from Pool yesterday ($8.00) and parked it with Sedo. It got 13 legit hits overnight. It is weird to me as the Sedo page advertisements are pretty lame. I Leapfished it today and it estimated that it was approx $12,000. Which I know is inflated. My question is, how can I find out who owned this before me and what type of page was it? Is there a way that I can tell? I am afraid that I have purchased a domain that someone accidently let expire. What should I do? I Goggled the name, but I did not find a contact. Any help would be appreciated... Thank you

try looking your domain up at www.archive.org. you might also be able to get some info from www.alexa.com, or googling "domain.ext" to see where backlinks are coming from.

Thank you Shockie. It was an insurance company's website. They appear to stilll be in business. Should I contact them? Is it possible that they let their .com domain accidently expire? Thank you

i would definitely try to contact them, and it's perfectly possible that they've let their domain accidentally expire (i think even a branch of google has done so in the past). and if it's an insurance company that's still in business, then you could be looking at a nice sum of money.
