Question For You Mac Users...?

I recently migrated to a Macintosh from Windows and overall I'm pretty pleased with my new baby.

However, most of the domaining tools are only available for Windows. (for example, dnaz.net, domainresearchtool.com)

Could you people recommend any domain name filters or analyzers for mac that work well? (preferably free or cheap)

I'd love a little program that you can input prefix/suffix combinations to keywords...

Yeah, I tried Google and that's how I found the domain name analyzer. Ideally, I'd prefer something like www.dnaz.net (windows only) for mac.

not sure what there is available in the way of polished tools with graphical interface etc ...

but there is plenty you can do yourself from the command line with the built in tools (such as the bash shell, python programming language, and unix networking utilities such as "dig" and "whois") ...

well worth spending a bit of time noodling around (if you're so inclined, may not be for everyone - YMMV!) ...

So ... fire up the "terminal" utility and try a few of these command line tricks:

Code:
dig namepros.com

Code:
bash -c 'suffix=".com"; letters="a b c"; for x1 in $letters; do for x2 in $letters; do checkname="$x1$x2$suffix"; echo "---------------"; echo "checking $checkname"; dig $checkname; done; done'

thanks, and thanks!
nice blog BTW - will definitely be back.
google is tough because it replies with so many pc results.
unfortunately with the terminal route, i'm code-illiterate. and the second, a little unsure about inputing top names into a site for tracking reasons.
a script i could put on one of my own websites would be great...desktop mac program would be heaven.

reps for help, tho

Thanks everyone. Even 'm pretty much code-illiterate, so the terminal route won't be very appealing to me.

Repped you filter and Timewarp.

Hey,

I've also been looking for such a software and finally found a member here on NP x11joex11, who is programming a very nice tool for us Mac Users:

http://www.dnfinder.com/

That page isn't up-to-date and you'll only find the 1.4 version, but Joe currently is working on DNFinder 2.0, which I was able to beta test.

If I remember correctly he wanted to publish the final version within the next few weeks, though I didn't speek to him for a while as I hadn't that much time for domaining lately.

cheers

JP

I am pretty good with coding on the Mac and have been thinking for , well, a few years :) to do such a program.
This time, I think I might go ahead and do it.
