I need your help.

If you received a bid @ Sedo, and it was for less than you wanted to start your auction for, and you countered back with your reserve price, I know that the buyer has 7 days to make up their mind on your counter offer, but during that time, Is that domain locked?

I hope I am explaining my question well here.
I will try explaining once more.

I want at least 2k to start my auction.
Buyer offers $110.
I counter with 2K and the Buyer takes 7 days to reply to my counter offer...

During the time that the buyer is thinking about if he wants to take my offer,
Can other bids still come in?
Or do I just have to cancel the negotiation all together to keep my domain live for others to bid on?

Thanks in advance.

Its locked vito. i am in a similar situation. Once you counter you get locked. The offers are open only when you haven,t countered.

Mahesh,

I do not believe you can "cancel the negotiation" until the Buyer responds or the 7 days has passed.

If the Buyer counters for less than your $2000 offer or doesn't respond after 7 days then you can cancel.

Ya know...
Tricolorro, You are 100% correct.

What a complete B.S. policy!
Only 4 Options here...

Option A: Confirm Offer - Sell Domain
Sell Domain at the agreed price: 110 USD

Option B: Make Offer
If the bid is too low, you can make a counter offer here. Please note that your offer is binding!

Option C: Start a Public Auction
You may start an auction with the buyer’s recent offer of 110 USD acting as the starting and reserve price.

Option D: Cancel Negotiations (Yeah Right)
Negotiations cannot be canceled at this time. You may cancel after your first counter-offer, as long as you are not bound to negotiations. Please submit a counter-offer.

So, basically my domain is held in "lockdown" until the buyer responds to my counter-offer, and they have 7 days to respond!!! So, I cant do anything with my domain til that time.

Dammit, So since the offer was actualy $110. but I requested 2K to "start" the auction now the only option I have available (cuz of course I'm not selling it at that price, or sending it to auction for that price) is to counter, and wait!

I guess to avoid this in the future I should have a price listed in my domains Sedo sales pages???

Arghhhhhh!

Thanks for your help.

This is good to know. I did not know this. I could have been in the same boat just a couple days ago but I cancelled the negotiations. Only because I recieved an offer one day and then the next day a lower offer (starting price $) was then made on the name. I truly believe it was the same buyer but no way of really knowing at Sedo.

Can a buyer make multiple offers (higher or lower) before you make a decision on whether to sell, counter, cancel, send to auction?

So what if you do not counter offer after they counter offer your initial counter offer? Would this void the negotiation after 7 days?

You're welcome.

Yes you can list a price but if you list a Fixed Price that is the same as Buy It Now.

You can list the price you'd like under "Negotiations" category and list a minimum offer price.

The Sedo auction service sucks in another BIG way.

There is no way to set an auction to avoid falling on an undesirable day such as a holiday for example.

I didn't know that.

I wanted to send a domain to auction but if I did the auction would end on Friday , December 25 which was Christmas Day.

Since it was a business oriented domain I didn't want it to end then.

I wanted to avoid the weekend too since many businesses are closed.

So I waited a few days so the auction would end on the next Monday (or so I thought).

Once I sent the domain to auction, I saw that the auction would end on Christmas Day anyway.

The auction clock had been running and there was nothing I could do about it.

There was no point in delaying the auction and I only hurt myself since the auction only ran for
3 days.

It's a stupid policy not to allow the Seller to pick a better auction ending time.

"Can a buyer make multiple offers (higher or lower)..."

I don't see how.

You can set:
  • No price
  • Fixed Price
  • Desired Price (Negotiation)
  • Minimum Price

"So what if you do not counter offer after they counter offer your initial counter offer? Would this void the negotiation after 7 days?"

Yes.

Sedo will send you periodic reminders that you need to respond to the Seller's offer.

Sedo may leave the bid page up longer than 7 days before sending a last email.

But after 7 days both Buyer & Seller are off the hook.

Thanks for this info. Rep points added. :)

I was also wary of these latest back to back offers because to me it seems easy for someone to make it seem like there are multiple interested parties for a domain name. This could lead to an auction set up where there is really only one interested party, Then they would get no bidding competition..... therefore they could get a name on the cheap.

I think I'll stick with straight up offers for my best names! :tu:
