A recent transfer request I had from ownyourweb.com was denied for the following reason:
I purchased the domain from another forum and rather than renew at ownyourweb, I wanted to move it over to another registrar.
I don't know if this is just the policy at ownyourweb (and GoDaddy, since they seem to be exactly the same) or if it is universal.
Oh forgetful me, that's another condition I failed to mention.
Some registrars consider domain ownership changes as a "new"
registration as well. In essence, they "transfer" the ownership
from the old registrant's account to the new registrant's
account within the same registrar.
To better explain your case, let's say yourowndomain.com was
registered by someone and has been around after 63 days. If
you and the domain's owner have made transfer arrangements,
notified the registrar about it, and fulfilled all that's needed to
make it happen, ownyourweb transferred it from the old owner's
current, created a new one with your details, and put the
domain name there.
In so doing, however, their systems read this as a "new"
registration but having skipped the normal registration process
as well.
Will the domain name expire before its so-called "60 day
registration" occurs?
