Question about type ins?

I have a question, and am not sure. when you type in a name in the browser without an extension, does it automatically come up with the .com.

The reason I am asking, I own TheCardigan .com . when I type in thecardigan in my browser it take sme to some other site with some music by the cardigansbut nothing to do with the cardigan in the name. How does this site come up? When I type iin thecardigan .com it comes up with my sedo parking page. Why would that not come up when the name is typed without extension? Can someone please explain how this works? I thought that when you typed in a name it automaticaaly added .com and looked for that address, if that address was not found then it sent you elsewhere?

It's impossible to type something w/o a extension and to be redirected to the .com
You probably get redirected cause you have a plugin instaled in your IE.

But if I type in yahoo or google or many other names, I am automatically redirected to the .com sites, why is it not the same for other names.

You are talking about IE Browser right ?
- If so go , to Tools / Internet Options / Advanced
and see what settings you have under "Search" or "Search from Address Bar" ....
It is probably set to "Go to most likely site" ~

I don't use IE, I use firefox and no extra toolbars

if you stick in a ? or dot example what is the name of bobs uncle? it mistakes it for a url.

If you write what is the name of bobs uncle it will search for it.
