Question about domaintools

I would like to obtain registrant history for a few domains I own, because I am the original registrant (and I still own these names) and owing to changes in my email addresses over the years and some errant shredding of registration email printouts (I won't need that will I?), I cannot prove I registered these names or when I did so, and as there have been a few companies that have since emerged with the exact same names, I wish to have proof of my registration of these names and the dates.

No-one has approached me about these names yet, but I would like to be prepared in case someone does and it becomes a legal matter.

I believe domaintools can provide registrant history in their research module and so I emailed them from their website a few months ago, to which I did not receive a reply.

I wanted to see if anyone knows, for sure, if domaintools do indeed provide registrant history information.
Their subscription of $99 per month seems a lot but I would be willing to pay for one month and then cancel the subscription once I got the information I needed.
Or if they have other options for their services, I would look at those. But I did not find anything else than the $99 per month option.

You could just get the invoice from your registrar, but yes, DomainTools will provide you with the Whois history that they have with a paid plan.

Assuming the domains didn't have Whois privacy, and that DomainTools checked their Whois, it'll show your information there.

"Just get the invoice" is essentially an impossible undertaking, as one of the registrars that I remember using does not provide a way for people without an account to contact them. I don't even know which registrar I used for the other names at the time (it was over 25 years ago), so that is a non-starter.

With domaintools, I find no other options than the $99/m plan and I don't know if I can cancel the subscription after I have what I need. They didn't respond to my email in which I asked this and other questions.

They do seem geared up for heavy business security aspects, not the likes of domain investors.

You don't need the original invoice. Any invoice of renewals from the past 25 years would suffice, if it is from before these other companies came into existence.

Why couldn't you? Save a screenshot of the information that you want, and then cancel it.

Definitely; they shifted their focus away from domain investors many years ago.

Lots of threads on NamePros about it.
