QR scanning

Hi, hopefully I've put this in the right forum..but I've just got a quick question:

Say I've got a webpage that people can access by scanning a QR code...is it possible to log the geo-location of the scanner when people access the page? can javascript do this?

I think it's part of HTML5 - but it will require the user to give permission to access the information.
