Do you think QR codes make memorable domains less attractive?

No.

There are times they are inconvenient to use and many people still don't understand how they work.

I have seen this in real life multiple times like at Cabela's where people were struggling to use the QR system for customer service. In fact, they removed it here.

QR codes also don't work with things like word of mouth advertising. They don't index in search engines like domains.

QR codes can compliment domains, but are not great on their own IMO. Domains work fine on their own.

Nope, for all the reasons Brad mentioned and more.

They’re clunky. They’re a security risk. They provide no brand value.

Agree on security risk, I must say the same risk is URL shortening services.

But look how they are growing, both QR and shortening…

Restaurants and cafes nearly stopped printing menus, or writing WiFi passwords…

The easiest way to hack your private data is scanning unknown QR code.

Cant say the same for domains.
Dont get me wrong, QR remind me of “Zelle money transfer” Like zelle, only QR things i trust.

choose domain over QR.
Sometimes, QR code scans lead to dev domains!

QR codes can be personalized but you can't sell them. And if you could they would still need the DN 😂

Words are memorable throughout the ages it's why they have lasted. QR codes are a function for like, reading the price of a banana or putting up on a storefront for a deal. No one remembers a QR code it always needs a scanner.

QR codes and memorable domains have different roles but can work well together. QR codes provide quick access, while memorable domains create brand recognition. It depends on the situation, some prefer the convenience of QR codes, while others like catchy domains.

When do you prefer one over the other?

Depends really. For a trusted restaurant menu, I’d prefer a quick QR. Or for joining the Wi-Fi. Or for quick info of a painting in the museum…
