I have seen a few threads here where they state that "Q" is not a good letter to have in your domain and can sometimes make the value lower. Is this true? i have a domain I am developing and it has a "Q" in it and am wondering if that could hurt it in anyway.

Q is perfectly fine if it makes sense in the domain. Queen.com would be spectacular. QuizMe.com, Quiver.com, QuitWhileYoureAhead.com... all good. What they mean when they say 'q' isn't a desired letter is when it's used like qhfnhj.com or qztlm.com or something nonsensical. Many letter combinations can be used as acronyms, but there are some letters that don't lend themselves well to acronyms. q, z, x, j, are difficult.

No, it will not hurt. A letter is a letter is a letter. Just because it's not as widely used does not make it "bad" as some would say... especially if you're developing. In the end it's your marketing/advertising that increases your sites popularity ... not your domain name.

Good Luck-

Well, Q is on the very edge of the keyboard and can be typed with your weakest finger (although I just use my ring finger) so it might lead to a lot of typos. If anything, words with Q in them are rare, so I would assume they would hold at least some value.

i think what they mean is in a 3 or maybe 4 letter domain..
for example q45.com . . . but there are many others, like 6 isnt a very good think to have in a 3 letter domain, but if the q means some thing.. 21q.com (21 questions) then it is.. or queen^ as an example up there.

- hope ive helped..

Q is very popular in Asia for domain combo, don't know why, many people just like it, even big company such as BenQ.
Sometimes I think "q" is referred to "cute" and it is a very nice term.
