OF COURSE guys like rick latona and frank schilling are going to badmouth all the new extensions... because they have all the .coms etc... and they are on the top of the cake... now when other people have a lot of top domains in new extensions... They FEEL like HEY WHATS WRONG WITH YOU .COMS IS THE ONLY THAT MATTER! (we have all of em) DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE, WE ARE STILL THE KINGS AND NONE OF THESE NEW SHIT EXTENSIONS ARE GONNA THREATEN OUR RULE!!! WE ARE THE DOMAIN KINGS GOD DAMN IT! DONT BUY OTHER EXTENSIONS, .COM IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS, NOW KNEEL!

i just think they are afraid that their .coms gonna have competition and loose value. Because THEY are the only one who is going to loose if new extensions get as widely accepted as .COM, cause then their .COMS aint worth as much, they dont have MONOPOLY on the for now "best" extension anymore, cause when there is new extensions that gets rated almost as good or as good as a .com their portfolio value will drop with like 50-60% probably even more.... And of course they dont want that. THEY ARE AFRAID of new extensions cause it could kick them of their thrones of gold!!!

i actually beleive the .coms is gonna drop in value in the future, but all the big domainers always says its gonna be mooore valueable(cause when they say it everyone will think it and then it is so, they are in a way setting the price). Of course it will always be good value of .coms but .com will have a lot more competition in the future. And thats probably the big premium .COM owners worst nightmare!

I mean the .com'ers must Keep the FLAG HIGH to rule, i mean our generation tell the next generation that .com is best, and they in there turn say it to the next generation etc... What if we said .NET is better, theoritically, what if every big domainer says that .NET is best, then the word spreads that .Net is actually better then .COM... then new websites will pop up with .NET instead of .com and .NET will eventually take over or be as valuable as a .com.

.asia is popular for the simple fact people think if they get a good enough generic they will get millions for it. Rick Latona, and Frank Schilling do not own every .dot com out there. Dot com is used by everyday businesses, real estate agents, mom and pop stores etc...

Its not for the sake of disagreeing but when I go to motorola.us, I get a blank page, now when I go to motorola.com I get the corp site. Its not two domainers who have made dot com king, it is the business world. Sure we can live in a bubble, and buy up all the .asia or .info domains, and wish we can get .com money, not so, just because you might feel like your on the outside looking in, it does not devalue the .com.

I personally think all these other cctlds other than a select few, are nothing more but tax fundraisers for the countries that control them. Like take a look at drop lists of domains, there are some pretty weird hypen or number domains people have registered for whatever reason. I don't know why, but alot of the good .com even two and now three word domains are in what I call safe hands. People who can afford to hold, or develop, and are interested in the big picture, and not a fast buck.

Personally I don't think my .com are under threat as the new extensions that are being rolled out are just awful (IMHO) :tri:

As for competition I think that the new TLDs were not set up to compete against .com but to complement it, and even on that count they fare poorly IMHO.
.com is readily recognized as the gold standard because it's a historical TLD. Of course you can trade with a .biz or .asia but an extension like that will automatically classify you as a latecomer that either has missed the boat or cannot afford a decent name

yeah but when all the countrys corporation and companys rather want their own country extension the value of .COM will FALL... because now companys rather have the .COM... but i think that will change in the future, its already happening in germany.

I believe that ALL DOMAINS are going to drop in value. Simply because there will be so many to choose from.
