Ok, I know how to do it and all that... my biggest question..

I have a domain I need to renew.. I want to move it from GoDaddy to DomainSite.. I done it with 2 others good.. but this one has an active forum on there

so pushing a domain from one reg to aonther mess up my name servers and etc ? will it make me have a long down time or anything ?

Thanks!

no ,any normal transfer should not disturb the nameserver settings or incur downtime for the site

This is not altogether true, this depends what name servers you are using. If you are using the GoDaddy standard name servers once they are notified of the transfer they will probably cut your use of that name server. Once you have moved to the new registrar name server you should be able to add their name server information but this will mean that the sight will go down for a couple of days during the transfer. If you use a third party DNS like UltraDNS or your own DNS servers your site should not go down during the transfer and most registrars carry the settings. You may just need to get them to register the name servers again when you get to your final destination if it is the domain that holds the name server on it. If you want more detail just PM me.

Yes, if you are using third parties NS it would be fine.

I just transferred a domain to Domainsite. Domainsite used my third parties NS as default, no down time at all :)
