Hello All,

Can any entity/individuals oppose to the registration of your mark during the “published for opposition” period regardless of whether they have a “registered” mark or not.

In another way, if someone else has their mark published for opposition and I want to oppose it, can I still do it, even though, I don’t own a “registered” trademark; and how much success do I have in convencing the trademark office to reject the registration of the mark.

Note: I am not opposing anyone’s mark. I just would like to know how it works.

Thank you,

Any person who believes that he or she would be damaged by the registration of a mark on the Principal Register may oppose registration by filing a notice of opposition with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and paying the required fee within thirty days after the date of publication or within an extension period granted by the Board for filing an opposition.
