I remember proxy, biz selling for $9,027 at SnapNames a while back, but I recently looked at the website and saw its basically a clone of proxy, org.

As all/most proxy users/owners know how popular proxy, org is.... proxy.biz is not even close. Proxy, biz barely has any websites in their directory, probably because it costs.

(Just now read, now all you need to do to submit is a link back)

Wonder if proxy, biz was even worth almost 10k?

I have 2-3 proxies listed on proxy biz but in 2-3 weeks I didn't get any visit from them so I think it doesn't worth submitting there and maybe you are right I don't think the domain should be bought with 10k and left undeveloped.

Well not sure about undeveloped but I'm thinking the person who bought it for 10k thought it would be like proxy, org.

Well it doesn't really depend who bought it, it depends what does after bought it. So if you spend 10k on a domain, I am sure that you can spend 2-3k to advertise it and start earning back your investment.

I don't think it's outrageous to have a 2-5x domain cost budget to advertise, setup, and run the site.

If I pay $50,000 for just a domain to develop don't you think it's reasonable to spend $100k or more to get the ball rolling. A domain alone is nothing without the site.

Proxy.biz has no pagerank. I just have to assume the owner doesn't know what he is doing.

Very stupid, if you wanted a site like proxy.org just go make up some brandable 5L or 6L domain, pay 7$ to reg it and get working. Its better if it doesnt have the word proxy in it TBH.

Because smart sysadmins block any domain with the word proxy in it. Any sysadmin viewing logs would obviously notice the domain too and filter it.

I agree, and beside my proxy forum. All of my actual proxies are LLLL.info names and none of them have the word proxy on the site. However these days, sys admins are blocking the words bypass, and filter, and all that other BS. Its a tug o war battle though. Hopefully for the sake of my income, the proxies prevail :)

It's hard to belive that he doesn't know what he is doing after paid 10k for the domain, who knows...

proxy org has the word proxy in it, LOL, and still receives thousands uniques every day.

That is why proxy.org has https://proxy.org.

Filters don't block secure connections.

Not only blocking certain words, but at my school, the sysadmin blocks certain URI that proxy script uses such as cgi proxy, phproxy, zelune, and proxify  Only thing I've seen that works is gpass [desktop program]

Like I also said, I'm not sure if they do it on purpose, but I've seen a WHOLE extention blocked... ( .info ) maybe because they only allow .com net org or they specifically blocked info cuz many 'educational' websites arent info

that user who own proxy.biz better be ready to a threatening email from proxy.org. They are very pushy when it comes to their domain with a different TLD being used the same as proxy.org...

Unless proxy.org have a TM, which I doubt, I dont anticipate any problems. Also proxy is pretty generic.

I'm sure the owner has been scared away after the negative comments here, however, he is a member here.
