I have five sites to be getting to grips with, but I am just starting out and they aren't "proper" clients - just mutual favours from mates so I can build a portfolio (and one of them is my website design site and one is a deal with my hosting company for free hosting - it may not sound that good a deal - but its my partner (romantic and he's also offered me a share in the company)'s hosting company, and I may well get referrals from him. I think getting paid work will be much harder, but I'm happy to take things slow, and market myself at my own pace - of course I can afford to do this because I have a day job and from September I'll have three years at uni - which I think will give me a good oppertunity for me to build up the buisness -my portfolio, repetoire (sp?) of services and of course, make some contacts. Whilst the extra money will come in handy for this poor student :p I don't think there is much in the way of design firms in my local area, at least not for my target market and price range, so I think I'll be alright.
No idea what to charge people yet, but I'll probably be targeting small buisnesses, organisations and charities at the small end of the financial spectrum, so my prices will be fairly low (which suits the fact that I don't have a lot of proffessional experiance).
