Programmatic subdomains

Hey all,

Just wandering if anybody knew how to programmatically create a sub-domain, or had a few links to a tutorial.

I've heard some things about using the .htaccess file to do this, but am not sure how to programmatically create a subdomain, ie create a site like dot.tk which provides free subdomains instantly.

you need to create a script that will interact with your servers dns server to create them, this would very for each different dns server.

you might wanna take a look at cPanel pro if you use cpanel, i believe it provides some sort of php interface

Depending on what you want to do you might want to have a look at using DNS wildcards. It can save you a lot of haste fiddling with the name servers.

Yeah you just create a script which includes the cpanel username and password, allows it to " login " and create the subdomain directly.
