Problem with Tradenames.com

I purchased a domain name from Tradenames.com from a fellow named Eduard in Russia. The name could not be transferred because it was set to expire in 5 days, and I could not renew it because Eduard owes them money. Not good.

My advice: steer clear of Tradenames.com.

Yes, I sent payment at the agreed price and was given the login information to take control of the name. Problem is, the name is set to expire in a few days, cannot be transferred because of that, and can't be renewed because Eduard owes NICCO money, as I stated. I have notified Eduard multiple times, no return message. I have opened disputes with Paypal & 2CO, his checkout service. I am not hopeful.

I knew buying a name from a one page website run by one guy in Russia was sketchy, but I wanted the name so I risked it because I read about others who had had successful experiences with him, as well as some that did not. My problem.

You might actually be able to transfer the domain. Some registrars allow you to transfer a domain that's just expired, even.

Where is the domain registered?
