hi people,

Yesterday i was viewing the late evening news and suddenly there was a newstopic about my work.

They are going to fire 120 people of the 150 people working there. It's a factory that makes carpets and there is to much competition from China.

So after three years working there i will probably lose my job. I just promoted to chief of 5 persons. damn, damn.

Monday there is special board to talk with the people. In the weekend we don't work so monday is d-day. I assume that no one will work.

It's a f*cking weekend, probably i'm going to be wasted this evening.

:td:

regards

Look on the bright side, at least you now have more time to spend at NamePros! ;)

On a more serious note, sorry to hear that... good luck with everything.:tu:

Also, sorry to hear  But, maybe it is a golden opportunity for you to line up something even better this weekend or in the near future. They can take over your job, but not your dignity, skills, ambitions, and determination - not unless you let them have those ;)

Origins

This kind of scenario has been happening in the US, too, for as long as I can remember. If it's not outsourced work to the Chinese, it's having your wages slashed because of illegal aliens undercutting the American workers' wages. It's been the same old story everywhere for as long as there have been rich employers, self-serving politicians, and the almighty dollar, buddy boy. It's not your fault.

My best advice to you is to continue with your education, don't put all your eggs in one basket, and never, ever let yourself depend 100% on someone else for your livelihood. Just be glad that this didn't happen to you when you were 40 or 50.

One more thing. Take a look around at the employers in your community. If they are ripe for the same kind of thing happening again, then it's time for you to move away to a new location that's more conducive to meeting your needs for a bright and promising secure future.

Maybe one day someone will rise up and become the political leader that puts a stop to this betrayal of your countrymen's workers.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about that. Well, you can always start your own company and check out the competitors in China...things here are pretty cheap.

kwakkwak I have recently gone through the same myself recently (was told I redundancies would happen in back in January and was finally made redundant in July, With us it was roughly 620 people made redundant out of 750). So I know exactly how you feel.

Something will come along and things will pan out but you will have to ride out the rough for a little while.

In the meantime ensure that you have any information regarding any insurances you have that you will be able to claim from and if at all possible try and make sense of what money you currently have and what you will still need to pay out when redundancy comes. I personally was prepared and knew exactly what from my redundancy I had to pay out and what debt I did not need to touch.

Ooh and only just noticed this was posted 2 weeks ago, hopefully you did not lose your job.

Hey that sucks.

I was told yesterday that I had 2 months left before my company shut its doors. After almost 2 years of employment.
