Today, I received email from Encirca saying that .pro registration prices will be under 25$ after September 8.

As a result there will be no more their proForwarding proxy service. And we will be open to registryPro certification check. Does anyone has an idea on this certification check? Do we have to send them a BS degree, or do we have to develop our registered names? Thanks

It's my understanding that the "certification" basically makes it impossible to re-sell these domains.

Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

i picked up a .pro from domain people last week. They actually submit your app before it goes live into whois on the 8th.

After I regged one I realized that I may not have the proper cert, etc.. but they told me anyone can reg one since .pro is really lax now. They keyword here is 'self-certify' :)

What information must be provided as proof of eligibility for a .Pro domain name?
All applicants will need to submit personal and professional information in order to be eligible for a .Pro domain. Required information includes:

• First Name
• Middle Name
• Last Name
• Date of Birth
• Profession Type
• Country of Jurisdiction
• License Number
• Licensing Authority
• A link to the Licensing Authority’s Web site

This is a joke, they still don't say who or what is a professional. In that case, I really dont think it matters. They will use their rule to get rid of any unprofessional sites (ie adult, gambling), other than that I wouldn't worry.
