5 ciggies and 2 bars of soap. :bingo:

Seriously though. you could try to market it to some of the prison aftercare organisations.

I think the value in this (presuming there is no major previous traffic/liinks) comes from what you make it ..

Maybe a help forum .. talking about experiences etc and help not to *go back in*

the dot com has 214,923 members, always be in their shadow and any work you put in it will spill over to them

I agree. I could be a great help site. You may consider development or finding an end user (probably and NGO) with an interest in this area. I will not put a number on it now, but I think it has potential.

If you want to develop a prison site, there is probably a good .com available for regfee.

true, no need to use that domain for this niche which will probably have a lot of free options in the .com tld

Not sure about the validity of that argument. If that were true, the other TLDs existence would be inexplicable.

Prisontalk.info has limited upside resale value as long as competitive dot coms are available to hand reg:

convicttalk.com
convictstalk.com
criminalstalk.com
deathrowtalk.com
excontalk.com
exconstalk.com
exconvicttalk.com
exconvictstalk.com
exprisonertalk.com
exprisonerstalk.com
guardtalk.com
guardstalk.com
incarcerationtalk.com
inmatestalk.com
maximumsecuritytalk.com
penitentiarytalk.com
prisonerstalk.com
supermaxtalk.com

The same argument could be made with any other domain.

The argument falls apart when appraising stronger keyword names.

I think ecalc is one of the smartest dudes on this site, but I disagree that those are competitive keyword terms.
If you look at the sort and type of development that's on PrisonTalk.com, you instantly see the breadth that particular term, whereas any of the terms ecalc noted are simply much smaller topical fragments of that. I do agree, however, that those .com's are much, much better (and more viable) names than PrisonTalk.info.

I also agree with the others who say that developing a .info of a keyword eponymous, long standing, topically standard-bearing .com forum is dumb.

I agree that in this particular case, it's pointless, but I personally don't fall in line with that sort of thinking.

Lets say you were offered a job paying $1,000,000 per year playing video games, eating ice cream and screwing hot pornstars.

The catch? Of that $1,000,000, $500,000 would immediately be taken from your paycheck and given to Warren Buffett, leaving you with $500,000. What would you do? Would you not take the job on some sort of principle? Or would you enjoy what was available to you and forget about whatever ancillary benefits it might offer to someone else, even if that person happens to occupy a more fortunate position than you?

This is my outlook as it pertains to noncom TLDs with aggressive development (and particularly, pure geo .orgs). So, maybe 20% of my traffic bleeds off to someone else. Who cares? I'm more than happy to enjoy the 80% who do show up and if I'm putting on a better show at my place than they are at .Com Mansion, I'll eventually get their traffic too, while they subsist on curiousity seekers who show up only because they don't know any better.

Don't fear lower TLD's if the earning potential is there.

I wasn't talking about just the keyword. PrisonTalk is a good name. I was looking more at the fact that this .info has things working against it before it's even developed.

.info

.com is developed

... Things that an alternative keyword .com (again, probably available for reg fee) does not have to deal with.

Good points by all above. My appraisal was half baked so I threw it back in the oven. Keyword phrase "prison talk" has real search volume that can be exploited thru SEO, while my [altname].com suggestions do not. Only penitentiary talk is synonymous with prison talk, but by every other measure prison talk is better. Still prisontalk.info undeveloped will be a tough resell above $X due to the hand reg availability of competitive gTLDs and ccTLDs and thin aftermarket demand for 2-word dot infos. DNSaleprice shows 3 public sales containing the keyword "prison" and all were dot com.

adwords global monthly search volume exact match
prison talk = 12,100, .us available
state prison = 18,100, .biz & .us available
federal prison = 18,100, .biz available
prison board = 91, all TLDs available
penitentiary talk = 0, all TLDs available
state prison forum = 0, all TLDs available
federal prison forum = 28, all TLDs except .com available
