:sold: I received a very attractive offer that came with a time limit and had to act on it. The site is now sold.

http://www.1-hair-styles.com

Start Bid: $5,000
Bid Increment: $25
Auction Ends: 8-24-06 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time (USA). This will be based solely on the time my computer shows, so don't wait until the last few minutes to bid!

Please do not bid unless you have the funds to pay for it within 24 hours after winning. US Dollars only, and I will work with the buyer on payment options.

Features: This site is 2½ years old and steadily earns $700-$900 per month! Best of all, it's all passive income. There are no direct sales or customers to deal with. The earnings come from Google Adsense clicks and affiliate commissions on a very cool photo editing program that allows visitors to try on thousands of hair styles - using photos of themselves! It's very popular, and all administered by a third party who tracks the visitors coming from the site and whenever someone registers, you get a commission.

Earnings: The best thing about this site is its long track record of success. It consistently earns a nice income, month after month, since Adsense was added to it in Jan. 2005. Because it deals with hair styles, April & May are the two best months of the year (prom and wedding season). In 2006, it earned $888 (April) and $932 (May).

So far in 2006, this site has earned $5,890. It has earned $18,914 total since it was 'born' in March, 2004!

NOTE: I recently negotiated a RAISE in the commission with the photo editing merchant! Other affiliates get $3.74 per sale (25%), but this site now gets $4.48 per sale (30%). The lucky buyer of this site will also get that higher commission percentage!!!

Screenshots: Here are some screenshots of traffic stats and earnings.

2006 Traffic (Jan. 1 - Aug. 15): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Traffic.JPG [Note that April & May spike up for prom and wedding seasons. Also, the traffic is all organic - never any paid traffic! All of it comes from natural search engine links and links from other sites.]

All-Time Adsense Earnings (Jan. 1, 2005 - Aug. 15, 2006): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2005-2006-Adsense.JPG [Adsense was added to the site on Jan. 5, 2005.]

2006 Adsense Earnings (Jan. 1, 2006 - Aug. 15, 2006): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Adsense.JPG

July 2006 Adsense Earnings (so you can see the last full month): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006July-Adsense.JPG

2006 Photo Editing Sales Commissions: http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-photo-editor.JPG [The column labeled 'Comm-Month' is only for Aug. 1 - Aug. 15, so the total for Aug. will likely be twice the dollar amount showing, or over $300. Also, the 'Comm-Total' column shows more earnings than just 2006. There was no way to isolate just 2006 in the software that displays earnings. The actual total for the year 2006 is $1,569.04.]

Site's Potential: The most exciting part of this site is that it earns this kind of money and it only ranks well for one keyword at one major search engine (#7 at MSN at last check for the search phrase hair styles): http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=hair+styles&FORM=MSNH This means that the buyer, with some good link building and other marketing efforts, could easily take this site into the $1,000+/month range quickly without spending one penny for traffic!

As you can see, this is a great earner and requires virtually no work! I'm only selling it because I'm in the process of starting a new business and need the start-up cash. Trust me, I DO NOT want to part with this one, but I had to make a tough decision in order to get the new business off the ground. One of you is going to get a really great site here.

Monthly Adsense for Aug. 2005 - July 2006

Here is a page with screenshots of total Adsense earnings for each month (Aug. 2005 - July 2006): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/12-months-adsense.html

You'll notice a big drop-off after Oct. 2005. I was working on adding new content every week until mid-September, then stopped to begin working on other projects. The search engines love new content, so I suspect this drop was due to that, plus there were some search engine ranking updates that took away a big chunk of traffic. Things seem to have settled out in 2006. I think if someone got this site and had time to add content regularly and get some links, it would likely climb back up to the earnings you see for Aug. - Oct. 2005.

Don't forget that there is another income source with this site (affiliate commissions on a hairstyle photo editor). The site generates 60-70 sales commissions per month from that as well. That added $225-$260 per month under the old commission percentage, but now results in $270-$315 from the same number of sales under the new higher percentage.

Thanks,
John

would you accept transfer via sedo.com or escrow.com?

Probably not. Sedo charges a 10% commission (would be $500 if this sold for the minimum bid). Escrow is lower, but still a few hundred dollars. I realize it adds a level of security, but that's just too much to pay. I'm prepared to sign a sales contract that the buyer can draw up and vet through his/her attorney, if they so desire. Or, if the buyer wants to pay for Sedo or Escrow, that's their choice too.

Update

Current bid is $5,000. Five days left in auction.

Note: Now that the first bid is in, please raise bids in $25 increments, just to keep things sane. Thanks! :)

i checked - its only 3% or 3.2% for sedo/escrow.com. that around $200 or so - depending on the final sale price. not too bad.

can you post or PM more detail traffic stats including referrers/SE traffic?

thanks

Bid Update

The top bid is now $5,250.

I'm interested in bidding - it would be nice if the others bidders posted their bids instead of PMing the seller.

thanks!

Well, that would be nice, but some buyers like to maintain a low profile when thousands of dollars are changing hands. If you PM me, I can possibly get the top bidder to PM you to verify his bid. I haven't asked that person about it, so I don't know if it's possible, but I can try.

I'm currently the high bidder at $5,250. I will not be making another post, all future communications between me and Swebbie will be done through PM.

Swebbie - please put an hour and minute for the ending time for the auction. i don't want there to be any debates as to the highest bidder at the end time.

Auction Ends: 8-24-06 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time (USA). This will be based solely on the time my computer shows, so don't wait until the last few minutes to bid!

I will do my best to post a warning an hour before that time to give interested bidders a final shot. The 24th is this Thursday. :)

Hello Swebbie

Do you make any money off the sales of products ? You have many pages of affiliate products.

Do you use channels on your adsense account to see which pages the clicks are coming from- I would like to see this - or else give me some stats onthe page views and which pages get the most traffic and page views- that would be good inf0. also can you provide the keyword stats/ - the most popular phrases they find you on?

thnaks

BIN Option Removed

Due to the volume of PMs and "what-if's" I'm receiving, I removed the BIN option.

Hi Phil,

The site has made 100% of its income thus far through Adsense clicks and commissions when people sign up for usage of the photo editing software featured on the site. That software is administered completely by the merchant. My site simply sends the traffic to the merchant's sign-up page, and a commission is issued each time someone pays them. No customers to deal with, no refunds to worry about. The income is totally passive!

The site also has hair care and makeup links (http://www.1-hair-styles.com/products/). They are all affiliate links and to date I have not sold anything. I took the time to set them all up, though, so I still link to them from the site maps. I probably get the occasional Adsense ad click from them, but I don't track those by page so I don't know. Either way, it can only help so I leave them up.

Here are updated screenshots of traffic, page views, and popular search engine keywords:

2006 Traffic & Page Views (Jan. 1 - Aug. 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Traffic.JPG
*Note the Spring spike - that's because prom and wedding season brings in a lot more visitors!

Aug. 2006 Traffic & Page Views (Aug. 1 - 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Aug-1-21.JPG

2006 Most Viewed Pages (Jan. 1 - Aug. 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Most-Viewed.JPG

Aug. 2006 Most Viewed Pages (Aug. 1 - 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Aug-Most-Viewed.JPG

2006 Top Search Phrases (Jan. 1 - Aug. 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Search-Phrases.JPG

Aug. 2006 Top Search Phrases (Aug. 1 - 21): http://www.1-hair-styles.com/images/2006-Aug-Search-Phrases.JPG

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

To answer another payment option question:

Sedo is, in fact, 3%. I have sent them an email about the length of time their verification process takes. Until I receive a response and post otherwise, I will not accept Sedo.

As of right now, I will ONLY accept WIRE TRANSFER sent from your bank on Friday, August 25. I'll cover the sending fees.

If you have questions, PM me.

Thanks for the info.

Where do you get your articles from - they seem to be giving you a problem getting listed on google due to duplicate content. Actually every page bar your home page is listed in google's supplemental results- this means no traffic from google and limits this website to get more traffic(or any traffic) from google in the future - those pages are not indexed by google but are the most popular pages, meaning that if you removed them you would probably lose most of your adsense income- bit of a catch 22

Also i wanted to know why the large number of pm's and questions was the reason why you took off the BIN? Why would that all of a sudden make you have no BIN you had one before but why not now?

Thanks

Could you post traffic stats and referrer stats(plus search engine traffic breakdown) for August 2005

Thanks

Phil

That's an interesting theory about duplicate content. Every page of this site is original and was written by either myself or my wife. If it's duplicated anywhere and Google is having a problem with it, then it's because someone stole the content. I don't have access to how Google operates, so I don't know. Frankly, I've never paid much attention to where the traffic came from until I needed the stats for this sale. I just know the site makes $700-$900/month and I haven't added anything new in months. The last article I wrote for it was added several months ago. I moved on to other projects. I wish every site I ever built made me this kind of money month after month without me doing a thing to it.

Imagine how much it will make if the new owner takes the time to figure Google out and gets traffic from there in addition to all it gets now!

I took the BIN down because I was getting a lot of PMs from people making conditions about taking me up on it. It was consuming all my time. I'd rather just run this as a straight auction and let the chips fall where they will. Whoever places the highest bid by 11:59 PM Eastern time Thursday night wins.
