The site is getting alot of uniques per month considering that there are no keywords, meta tags, etc. up.

Refferers are active backlinks to your site. For example, if you are listed on some forums or directories or some website, when someone clicks on that link, it will become a referrer link. You should find the information in your traffic stats.
