..i've been testing/using several PR checking services with results ranging from "completely useless and invalid" to "lacking basic usability" - none of them satisfied my needs to the degree i felt i nedeed.. so i made simple mass PR checker which seems to be doing it's job in a manner i like - at least for me.

if fellow NP members would be willing to test it and kindly give me their feedback, i'd really appreciate that (i had a chance to only test it in firefox by now) :)

URL: zykko.com/prcheck

thanks in advance

now in addition to domain Pagerank mass-checking (and its Validity) you can conviniently see Google/Yahoo Backlinks info, major TLD availability, Creation date, Archive.org history - just click on small balloon icon next to domain name

almost everything is clickable - you'll get to original info source (like whois, google "info:" results etc) in a new tab

any bug reports highly appreciated :)

PS: currently i am not aware of any way to check Bing inbound links number ("link:url" doesnt work and i couldnt find any api either). Sites including Bing backlinks stats in their PR fetching services show incorrect data as far as i know..

thanks for looking

Like the fact that it tells you so much. It says I have 0 backlinks for both Yahoo and Google, which I know is definitely wrong.

Also like the way it checks the domain with www and without, my one domain is PR2 without www and PR0 with it (Weird)?!

A recommendation: Custom PR Checker graphics.
There are so many PR checker websites that use a graphic that looks very similiar. And maybe a better looking favicon.

An error/problem: Layout.
Here's a link to a screenshot of the site:

As you can see the right sidebar is cut-off and there is no way for me to scroll there and look at it. My screen size is 1024 x 768.

Hope this helps :)

Corey & DJSquared,

Thanks for testing!

"It says I have 0 backlinks for both Yahoo and Google, which I know is definitely wrong."
- you can just click on Backlinks result (bold green numbers) in the table: links lead to http://www.google.com/search?q=link:YourURL and http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=YourURL&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=u which is the way to check your indexed backlinks directly. Of course you may have a lot more inbound links to your site but they are probably not indexed. If your check your site inbound links via Google webmaster tools you might find many of them yet they are not included in Google search index.
Just as an example - if you check how many Google backlinks Yahoo.com has, you'll be surprised that there are only 5,590.. of course there are tons of links to yahoo.com but only a fraction is in Google index

- thanks, i'll be working on it, my designer skills are next to nothing :(

I have many indexed backlinks and it still doesn't show. Even have like 3 .edu backlinks that are indexed.

The layout issue is fixed now:)

The design is to common as people said before I did. The pagerank calculation is good, but add more info. If you need help with that I can do it :) I am the original creator of ipagerank ( org ) which I sold it back in 2009.

the script actually only shows Google "link:YourURL" search results - just as any other site does. which means only those inbound links will appear that are reported by Google on this request.
there's no other way to search for Google backlinks i know of. but you can still see all inbound links to your sites via Webmaster Tools - only.. one can gather these stats for his own domains with confirmed ownership.
it seems that when asked "link:YourURL" Google only reports the links that it thinks of as valuable according to its inner algorithm.
do you see your .edu links shown by Google on "link:" request?

Thanks cipcip,

design is far from what can be called original.. i'll change it soon to smth more or less digestable i hope

can you tell me what kind of additional info should i add?
is Alexa rank still seen useful to include? DMOZ listing? what else?

The tool is good for bulk PR checking. :)

thanks,

the script is simple - PR is checked by polling toolbarqueries.google.com with approppriate parameters on the server side. the only thing to know is how to hash URL - just google it, many examples.

validity is a slight problem - i use google search ajaxapi on the client and they rate limiting it so you'll get your ip banned after 20-25 fast requests. not totally banned, just for this type of requests for short time period - but meanwhile you'll need to check validity manually by going to google and searching "link:URL"...thats dumb, but paid api is way overpriced and plain cURLing is also subject to rate-limiting... Google is evil these days..

the rest of things - scrap all you need with cURL, for Google backlinks use ajaxapi - as its checked individually only on a domain clicked you'll have no problems with rate limiting and they even send you back nicely baked json with results count

domain availability is checked directly with root dns servers - faster and reliable way comparing to scrapping different whois services like domaintools. i'll add mass domain availability checking soon - tired of spying name.com etc

---------- Post added at 07:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:53 AM ----------

@4pm I included in that script also Alexa, DMOZ, Yahoo directory, Yahoo backlinks, Altavista backlinks, Alltheweb backlinks and also domain's age.

thanks cipcip, got it, will add :)

I check Pr's on a regular basses. Yours is bookmarked.
(No captcha, very fast, not some datacenter with zeros)

It would be more user friendly if there is more prominent info about multiple checks option.

thanks,

i know design looks ..well theres no design...
probably i posted into wrong thread because i was primarily interested in functionality testing :)

keyword is probably competitive like you said but i didnt mean to compete with myriads of similar services - i just needed the tool for my own in-house use as i am not happy with any of those from at least first 10 google results pages on "pagerank check" search.. anyway i'll probably add mass availability checker and whois a-la domaintools and then put it all on a standalone domain..

thank you!
