Portfolio pointing to one site

What are the legal issues associated with pointing a portfolio of 1000s of DNs to one site (my blog about DNs)? Is it in general a safer idea than parking?

why wouold there be an issue there you names, the only thing i could see is that if there were ads on that 1 site, and there were some TM issues, that might hurt, other than that, i dont see any reasons, i have 10 domains pointing to 1 site, never had an issue

I've wondered the same thing. Would seem very safe (unless the main site has TM issues). Also wondered about the ramifications of doing so if the site uses adsense or yahoo ads. Doesn't seem like an issue, but things are changing lately.

The blog is a recent one that I started and really enjoy updating. It has one bit for a google adsense right at the bottom for DN registration. I am seriously considering doing what I suggested above and pointing the whole portfolio at it!

Already got an offer directly from one of the few domain names that I pointed to my blog, just a few hours ago. My mind is being made up very quickly! Being able to discuss directly with the buyer as well as finding out where theyre from and what their background is, is a definite benefit cf Sedo and the like.

If you have ads for DN registration, then any domains you have related to DN registration which could be considered confusingly similar to existing DN registration companies, might be a problem, TM-wise.

Ah..I see. If your intent is to market one of your domains for sale by pointing all of your other domains to it, I can't see what's wrong, as long as you aren't trying to claim the traffic as type-in or something and figuring that in as a selling point.

Beyond that, it would depend on your daily parking revenue lost vs your profit in selling the single domain...and how quickly the next one sells. For example, if you average $100 per day in parking, and you sell the domain in two days, you need to clear over $200 on the domain just to break even. If you make $300 or more you'll come out ahead. On the other hand, if you're making only $10-$40 per day, and you're making $200 every two days by selling...that'll work. Guess you'll know soon.

A good point. I have stayed off domain names generally except for my blog but I will check the names that I am currently pointing at my blog for what you suggest - thanks. Hopefully the risk of TM infringement is significantly lower than blindly parking them - which is easy to do if you have plenty of domain names, in my view.

No, thats not the plan... in fact I dont want to sell that blog name - to much emotional attachment after the effort. And youre right, I will soon find out.
