That's a negative point of domaining. You get bad grades in studies..

Same happened with me :(

My advice is this:
Just concentrate in class, don't do the h/wk that they set you because it is not worth doing. Go home, and MAKE yourself do 1 hour of text book problems per night. If you do that, you will become a pro in no time.
I usually find that the more I revise, the more I forget, the only way for me is to test myself.
Last year I did my GCSE's, I did nothing for a whole year and still got nothing below a C, but now I am doing AS levels and they are much harder, my advice is, prepare yourself for the much harder work.

Everyone has different study techniques. My technique is to do nothing. I've never studied for a test in my life but I think its because I catch on quickly so I know it while other people may have forgotten. Also some people are just naturally good at tests and test-taking situations; we have the ACT, kind of like the SAT, and I got a 31, which is equivalent to a 1400 on the SAT, and I didn't do one bit of studying or take those prep classes, and I was actually up later than normal the night before.

So basically just try different things until you find a technique youre comfortable with.

You must be pretty smart then :o

That's the problem. I just can't stop going on the internet, I'm usually online 10-12 hours a day. Any advice on how i can stop this habit?

High school (Grade 9 to 12 here) has been fairly easy to me. I'm in my last year. I've always hated Math and my grades reflected that. I found that reading to myself aloud did the trick. Like I would read something, then when finished, read it out loud. That's always helped me. Although, everyone learns/studies differently.

I have noted that down, I hope it helps :)

math = take textbook problems and try them. The answers are in the back of the book usually. practice till you can get them right fast

I have noted that down aswell. Thanks for the advice

I was sort of in the same situation as you, although I failed all my exams except for business studies and enginering (although got not so good marks) I just wasnt interested in high school, and friends and going out played a bigger part in my life, although I decided to stay on at college for some strange reason. To help study properly I advice switching off your t.v, computer, mobile phone and everything else that can distract you.Thats my only advice

this works for me / well used to but im done with education now

when revising do like half hours work. then go get a drink / go to the loo and while doing that say to yourself what youve just studied over the past half hour. then 10-15 laters go back do more revising

i did this revision day before i did my GCSE's at school and they taught us all sorts of little techniques to remember our revision notes.

also drawing it visually helps me.
they also taught us to draw what were studying in spider diagram format so
say you was studying circles or something
you might draw a diagram like this
http://tenbellys.com/screenshots/maths.jpg

we did these duirng this revsion day and we ended up with a A3 sheet of paper full of things like this that resolved around certain things.

but it helped because things where broken down and i could say right the value of pi is 3.14 and with circles the circumference is the distance around it

guess what im trying to say is not to much at once and revise what youve revised every half our or so.

Thankyou very much for your advice! :tu:

I really appreciate your help :)

have u tried going in for extra help? Also ask questions about your homework and why the answer isnt right. No one is perfect.

I can't really ask my mum and dad since they weren't too good at maths either

Thanks for the advice, but if i don't do homework i get a demerit stamp in my school diary and when i get 3 i get a monday detention where i have to stay back at school for 1 hour :o I've only got one of those so far, for handing in an assignment 3 days after the due date :|

Thanks for all your help guys! :hearts:
