Hi there,

Just trying to find an answer about Pool auctions. What happens with 5 minutes to go. I heard if somebody bids the auction is extended by five minutes? Is this true?

What is the best way to win an auction on pool do you think without paying over the odds?

Help appreciated :)

thats snap that has the 5 minute extension rule if there is a bid in the last 5 minutes

for pool bid 'ebay sniper style' as late as you dare

damn....is it best to bid high first and try and scare everyone off or just keep yourself hidden. I think there is 2 other people involved who have already bid. I am crap at snapping at the last minute on places such as ebay. Is there are program that allows you to do it automatically?

theres loads of programs out there to place last minute bids for you on ebay so im sure there is one for drops but i dont know of one

your high bid to scare people off wont actually show as being a very high bid as its proxy bidding like ebay if that makes sense, so only the bid one notch higher than the next highest will show

what i would do is wait it out and not do anything at all til last 2 minutes, make your decision of how much you can bid and within the last 2 minutes place that bid, depending on the ending time your other bidders may not be about and you get the domain without a fight. lots of early bidding on a name reinforces the domains worth in all the potential bidders minds which is defo a bad thing cos you want it as cheap as possible

on the pool auction ive won i got my name without much fight because it ended early afternoon uk time which suited me but obviously not the others. Pinched it for $82 when on namewinner (there they bid even before they know if they have caught the dropping name, stupid way of doing it) had been bid up to $240ish

anyways hope that helps and let me know how you get on with the auction, im interested as to what the domain is but i wont ask til after you've won it :)

thanks there mate for your help

I am trying to get two .eu names which end tomorrow and they are at 225 euros already but as i said they are top quality. If i was appraising them, one of them would be worth mid X,XXX at least. I'll post here if i get the name i want.

In the meantime, if anyone has a domain snapper program, could u please post :) Thanks

...trying to think what 5pm is in american time...mmmm....must be 9 or 10 am.

you still can tell your names here you are bidding for as no one else would be able to jump in for those names in pool auction and some one here might be able to give a you fair view about price of those names Like how much you should go for them.

yeah, why not.

They are 1d.eu and kev.eu. 1d is good as it stands for 1 dimensional and kev.eu is great as it is my name

just checked that 1d is at 550 euros with 10 days to go. kev.eu is at 90 euros with a few hours to go
