I have a question... :: When you create web pages. Should i make it fit what size? Or should i just go with %?

When I do it and use tables I always set them so they fit 100% of the window size, but this isnt always good... another way is to make it a set size so it looks small to somebody on 1024, but perfect for 800 res!

Yea, I have a 800 x 600. Thats all i can do with the monitor i have. So i make it look perfect on my computer, but other people complain because Its too small on their computer or It doesn't look right.

I am just trying to get an idea of what the majority of people use; so i can use that size when making web pages.

1280

this is to big as it is but my monitors not good enough

1152 x 864

Anything 'up in size' and I'd need to wear my glasses, and wearing my glasses at least 5 hours a day, at the computer, isn't something I fancy very much.

1280 x 1024 - I need the extra real estate when using Dreamweaver or Photoshop.

Your poll here shows better than 5% use 800x600 which might be just a bit low overall. Design your sites with your viewers in mind. If it is a site for all viewers go with the 800x600. Sites for gamers or other users may be different.

Right. Cater to Lowest Common Denominator.

Or close to it.

I develop to 775 pixels wide max (leaving 25 pixels for the window borders), but my monitor is 1152 x 864 at home and 1280 x 1024 at work.

Plus I develop some sites to break apart for PocketPC, etc. - i.e. 220 pixels wide.

Plus there's those browsers that take vertical real estate for their crap.

But I keep it to 775 - even today. Although I've been strongly strongly tempted to ramp it up to 1000 pixels wide (I like round numbers, so I'd only be allowing 24 pixels), as the default for Windows (which used to be 800x600 with Windows 9x) is now 1024x768 and most end up at least there anyways.

Just IMHO
