Police officer ranks

does anyone know off a hand the different ranks (in their order) of a police officer i am putting together my csi fan site forum and would love to use these as the ranks for the members... or if you can think of a better suggestion i would love to hear them

Ok,,They begin as follows atleast here

Officer
Corporal
Senior corporal
Sergeant
Lieutenant
Detective
Deputy Chief
Chief

Rank of command is the same for a detective,Just different field units.They acquire thier rank as beat or street officer and then can be promoted to detective.

Most cities and states are much the same,However in some,They will have 1st Lieutenant,No iam not in law enforcment,But i have family that is local law enforcment.

Start em at officer

30 posts to Corporal

60 posts to Senior Corporal

Then i would make it a bit more difficult

250 Sergeant
600 1st Lieutenant
1000 Lieutenant
1900 Detective
2500 Deputy Chief
4000 Chief

There ya go,Start em off in the **academy** and then progress them to officer. Great idea.

Yea and it would be cool to make your moderators **Constables** And adnmistrator Sheriff.

Constables are the ones within a local sheriff department that serve mostly petty warrants-Over due traffic tickets,Failure to appear in court warrants ect.

All most all states have the sheriff dept,Which works with the police dept.But are two seperate agencies.
