Hi everyone,

Since there's a general consensus that Estibot gives somewhat fair appraisal for .mobi names, if I have a .mobi domain with an appraisal value of say $80, how much should I sell it for so that there's a buyer?

Would you buy above the appraised value? 10% discount on the appraised value? 20%? 50%?

Wordtracker gives very good estimates on how often keywords are searched.

Hi, I don't know how to correlate number of searches to dollar value. Example, is 200,000 searches equals to $100? $150? $80? 1,500? Is there a tool like estibot that can give a fair appraisal for .com and other extensions? I don't mind using different tools for different extensions.

There isn't one formula, that's why domaining is so interesting and can be frustrating too. From all that I've learned, there are MANY variables that determine value. After a while, you get to know which words and phrases are gold, and which really aren't. Some of that just comes with experience.

God knows I've reg'd my fair share of losers, but here are some things that determine value that I've found for .mobi names:

1. Is the name a good fit for the 'mobile' application?
2. Wordtracker and overture results, the higher the better.
3. The term has google ads when you type it into google.
4. The term has a high PPC cost for advertisers (check google adwords PPC for the first position)
5. The term has a lot of google results when you search for it.
6. The term is short. The shorter the better for .mobi, for obvious reasons.
7. The term is generic, with no possible Trademark issues.
8. There is a working .com, .net, and/or .org website, preferably with high page ranking (possible 'end user' for resale of the domain)

Now, obviously you aren't going to find many names which meet all of the criteria above, but if it meets most of them, it is probably a good catch.

I may have missed some, but those are my major criteria for deciding whether a name is good or not. Hope that helps. :xf.love:
