Poker.cctlds are hot. Just picked up Poker.bi (Burundi, African country).

Interested in your thoughts. :)

Thanks,
Scott

have you just registered this name? I cam across burundi in my scan of the world search for a poker name and it was unavailable a few weeks ago?

Anyway, i like it. Maybe $1,500 - $2,000 depending if the reg fee was high.

Lets hope poker names still remain hot for the very near future :)

Great keyword.

$1.5K Quick sale to a reseller.
$2.x if you sit on it for sometime.

Nice name. I would say it's worth around 1000-1500, maybe more.

All the best,

I think Scott did very well to pick this domain up, and it has a distinct advantage over most of the other poker (exotic extensions) domains we've seen lately, in that the renewal fees are not outrageous, and that's an important thing, and a key selling point.

Good luck Scott. I'm jealous. :)

Yeah .. Poker . anything is a good buy......but I wonder what the percentage of Burundis with a computer and internet connection is?

who would use this DN?

World Wide Web audience :)

It's all about a short and concise keyword domain. I think Poker.bi does the job ;)

$1500 min, potentially more. JohnTV here buys them up for $1500 a pop...might want to check and see if he wants it if you're willing to take $1500. Good luck!

The domain had been requested in 2005 but wasn't paid for (expiry was N/A). I emailed nic.bi's support and asked them to release it, which they did. B-)

Thanks for the appraisals. Current offer = $1,500.

reg fee+/- This is an obscure cctld in an, even more, obscure country in an obscure part of the world that, undoubtably, doesn't know a thing about poker, let alone a deck of playing card due to all of the obscurity. "bi"? now what, exactly, is that supposed to mean. if you could stick it front of something else, well, than maybe you'd have something, ie bicycle, bison, bisexual, etc. Tell me. How many searches do you think are performed for words ending in "bi". Wait! I'll tell you. Not many, that's for sure. I don't care if someone is willing to pay you $1,500 or $15,000 for this name. it's value is reg fee+/- -period-.

Actually, you may be the individual who has the distinction of acquiring the only hand-regged "poker" name that was available in the entire world, and I hate you for it. Based on other recent sales figures- $1500 at the low end w/ a $3000-$4000 median range. Likely more++ a year from now.

If they speak English ... and have a computer, then you did good! :bingo: Based on these assumptions, at least $XXX - $XXXX. I don't know anything about the country though.

Went and looked at NIC.BI and their terms and conditions. Not sure if they care/enforce any of this stuff, but whoever bid 1.5k on it needs to at least be aware of this second paragraph:

There is no notion of property as far as a domain name is concerned. It is rather to be seen as a sub-delegation, and the sub-delegated entity is supposed to manage it in compliance with the RFC's and with the usual rules applicable to such a sub-delegation. For instance, domains should only be used for matters in connection with the sub-delegated entity's business. The name of the domain must correspond to the name of the business, or one of its marks.

NIC will do its best so that second-level domains are run in a fair way. NIC may delete a domain name without compensation, should the domain be run in an inappropriate manner or be restricted or undesirable. No auction or reselling of domain names will be accepted.

The invoicing is per e-mail only. NIC sends yearly invoices to the billing contact e-mail address at the anniversary date of the domain creation. There is no reminder sent afterwards. It is your responsability to maintain the record accurate so that the e-mailed invoice reaches the right person. An unpaid domain is deleted after two weeks and made available for new sub-delegation.

Shame too, they have quite a few other "top quality" single keywords available.

The TLD has nothing to do with the keyword poker.

Poker.anything will sell at $x,xxx in a heartbeat.

Developers know that as well as a fair prcentage of businesses that can see beyond .com. It's the members of a subculture within the domain name marketing community that seem to be he most hung up by extentions, unless the keyword is hot, as is the case here.
