IE doesnt allow transparency. Atleast the older versions didnt, not sure about new ones.

there are codes floating around to force IE to use transparencies with png's just do a search if you cant find any let me know and i will find some code i wrote years ago

i found a post my gf made
http://support.danethical.com/index.php?forum=7&topic=32
and the relavent part is

Code:
.tablecell1 {
border-bottom: 1px #006699 solid;
border-left: 1px #006699 solid;
filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(enabled=true, sizingMethod=scale src='http://www.exeus.danethicalhost.com/web/decursors/1x103.png');

}

.tablecell1[class]{ background-image:url(http://home.ripway.com/2004-2/77057/opacity/293CEB_1x1_66o.png);
}

the top bit is for IE most other browsers would use the last part, im sure if you searched there would be a better answer as the code above is based on something i did many years ago

seems that the newer versions of IE are trying to get rid of all such problems...
png transperancy was a big problem for some coders.
That is why they prefer gif

yer but with gif files they are either transparent or not where as png can do transparent to solid with different variances in between

and does this code need to be implemented on the same page as the image or sitewide?
