.mobi Please tell me what I'm missing here

Something I dont quite understand here..please enlighten me. Earlier on I posted the following "Sports" related names as available. Now in my opinion a couple of those names are pretty decent yet no-one has regged any. However often there are posts here where someone has regged some .mobi's and wants people on this forum to give an opinion on those names. In most cases the names are really totally crap and not worth regging. Now here I give away some ,what in my opinion are, pretty decent available names which are related to the .mobi extension and some of them have nice Google results too, yet no-one is interested in regging even one. But tomorrow some clown will have a posting here again in the vein of "please tell me what you think of my latest regs" and there will be some really horrendous name with no application for the mobile internet at all.
I'm sure I must be missing something very essential here.

PS!! Maybe while we are on the subject ..can someone explain why the results are different when the two keywords are spelled together as 1 word and seperately as 2 words. Also then, which is the correct method of the two for assessing the google search result?

you should use overtune to check how popular things are imo over google search,

sure these domains are ok but take a look at the other TLD's no real business intrest, sure they may be ok for developnment and good work on posting them up.

I`ll answer you guys why "Sport" gets more results on Google than the plural version "Sports" :

in other language like in Italian we adopted the word Sport and we use it for both singular and plural......that translates than any Italian writer would write Sport to indicate the plural too. And that`s just for Italians, imagine other languages if they do the same...

I think this is the key here. It not so much what shows up in the "google" search but what people actually say and type.

I not going to the Sport Bar down the road, I am goint to the Sports Bar.

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,290,000 for "topsport".
Results 1 - 10 of about 16,400 for "topsports"
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,150,000 for "top sports".
Results 1 - 10 of about 691,000 for "top sport"

Contradictory results?
I dont know..I do know that TOPSPORT is regged in all the extensions (all countries and all generic whilst TOPSPORTS is not

Look at these 2 screenshots:

So in most cases where "sport" is the last part of the word it is preferrable to have SPORT and not SPORTS whereas if "SPORT" is the first part of the word as in your excample then SPORTS is preferrable to SPORT.

Even the BBC uses the term SPORTSACTION not SPORTACTION and they use
ACTIONSPORT not ACTIONSPORTS

Lets say 10 people per day search for "sport focus" just as an example.
Results 1 - 100 of about 118,000 for "Sport focus". << Notice the "quotes" to get an accurate read. http://www.google.com/search?source...rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-36,GGGL:en&q="Sport+focus"


Using this made up example - Out of only 10 people per day even looking for the term , You would have to compete with 118,000 other sites/pages to get the traffic ....

Not very good odds - Wouldn't you say ?

As myself i misinterpreted this for some time as well - the results in quotes are not the actual competition.
It just means 118,000 references of that exact phrase/keyword.

To filter out the results so you have a more accurate view of the actual competing pages you would do a intitle:"keyword" and inanchor:"keyword" search.

Competition is still substantial but like half of the amount if you would use the "keyword" search alone.

Actual competing pages that have some sort of value SEO competition wise are the pages that are being optimized for, and the Page Title is an important factor, other pages can be discarded as competition at all.
