Please Supply Some Help

Okay first I am working on the site www.thecomputershack.net. As of right now I completely spliced it in photoshop and saved it for the web. So now it became this html file. I tried typing on an area I spliced and it doesn't type in the area. All it does is type above or below the area and creates white space. How can I fix this issue?

Hi Bryan,

For what I see now, there's not like a way really to add text. Because you sliced the images only from PSD so all It shows "images".. The way it looks now, its impossible to add text on an image. You need to change the image to a background or something and write into it.

First of all, You may want to reconsider the way you sliced and exported this image. It takes a little to long to load. As a good rule of thumb, you want your sites to load from 5-10 seconds. Try optimising it at a lower quality. You can still get a good looking site and have a lower load time in most cases.

As Designporte already stated, Imageready exports your whole site as an image and you cannot type onto an image. Try opening the site in a WYSIWYG editor and set the area you are trying to type in as a background. That way you can type in the area.

How do I get that editor and is it free? I don't exactly know how to make them with the background splices.

hey bryan if you slice it in image ready and the places were you ant to ad text, when you slice it choose no image and a transparent bg then you will be able to add text there on dreamweaver or notepad :D

You need to change the images into backgrounds, use either Notepad, or a WYSIWYG editor such as Dreamweaver or Frontpage.

Sorry for the wait for the reply. Havent visited here in a few days. WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get". Such editors include Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft Front Page. With these programs, you dont need to type code, its almost like using a text editor like Word. Unfortunately, these programs are not free. I am sure there are free ones available however.
