Hi guys,

I found a few nice availalable domains and in some cases i can get both .in and co.in. If I was to register only one of the two, which one is better? Which of the two would normally be considered more valuable?

Thanks guys and I look forward toi hearing back fyou.

Kind regards,.

James

.US domains.US domains
Well it's a toss up methinks.
Google use .co.in ebay use .in.

And it depends on the name.
I got the hack sheepsk.in whereas sheepsk.co.in
would make no sense. :)

apart from where a hack is concerned

obviously getting both is better

my opinion is .co.in is ahead of .in at present but .in is accelerating faster, so .in longterm will be better

Thanks guys for the input. Are a lot of .co.in and .in domains being sold by fellow domainers or is it an investment for the future?

Thanks again for the advice!

I agree with the above posts, register both .co.in as well as .in. Regarding your second question, I do think .co.in and .in domains are an investment for the future so even if you do not develop them, keep them.

I would say go for the co.in.

.in might look better to us, but before the worldwide release of the .co.in and .in registry, people in India have been used to type domain.co.in (and not .in), as .co.in was the country's main/official ctld.

I would buy both. I agree with Irishmat, co.in domains are more valuable than .in but only because co.in domains were available much earlier. In my opinion, .in domains will be more valuable in the future.

This debate has been there for a long time now, there is no right or wrong answer. IMO the easier it is for the end user the more popular it will be in future.

.in is easier to type and remember. Many indian companies have their commercial sites on with .in. Co.in started earlier so it has spread faster, like Yahoo.co.in, google.co.in

If you believe its a great name then register both extentions

How about .org.in vs .co.in vs .in ?

Does the Indian public recognize .org.in ? RBI uses rbi.org.in

.co.in is far better than .in as it says that yours is a commercial website.

I agree with you. I can post lots of instances where may people have appraised that this domain or others are no good , will get low - mid xxx , so on.

But ultimately I have seen some domains as those BLOW the BRAINS out. They have gone for more than twice or thrice the value appraised.

There are potential good buys in India outside of .in and .co.in
I have money-makers in .net.in and .org.in and I've seen several websites build on .ind.in (which I must admit is one of the silliest extensions ever)

I have www.Gov.org.in parked at www.Sedo.com . It has received over 1700 uniques this month, and will earn over $11.00 this month. Not a lot, but making net money at the end of the year. I don't think all .org.in will earn this, but it depends on the word, of course. Don't rule .org.in's out because thay are .in's ot .co.in's. IMHO
